New York Magpies The only Australian Football Club in New York! The New York Magpies are an amateur Australian Rules Football Club based in New York City.

Founded in 1998, the Magpies are dedicated to growing football in New York and across the USA. The New York Magpies are an affiliate of the Collingwood Football Club, who recently won the 2010 AFL premiership, and the Port Adelaide Magpies in the SANFL. The New York Magpies compete in the United States Australian Football League (USAFL). The USAFL consists of three major geographic conferences acr

oss North America with the NY Magpies vying annually for the Eastern American Football League (EAFL) title. The season culminates each year with all the teams across the USA competing for the National Championship in a two day tournament with four men’s divisions and one Women’s pool.

This week we want to highlight a legend who’s been at the club for 7 years and who is just one of those people who make it a better place.

Simi found her way to footy when she saw current women’s assistant coach Sam wearing a magpies top in her ballet class.

She has a tonne of non football hobbies including journaling, reading, walking, baking, and lately has taken up some boxing.

We almost had say goodbye to her this season but she managed to make her way back to NYC. Cheers to Simi!

What do you get when you throw an awesome attitude together with Lacrosse skills, an American Football and Track and Field background, snowboard instructing experience and a bit of rock climbing for good measure? A ripping footy player.

He’s a quick learner and takes everything in his stride as you can see as he wheels around for the 1-2 in the third slide. We can’t wait to see the player you become Ethan!

This one is a man who has seen almost our entire history! He was named best player at nationals in the 1s in 2003 and in the 2s in 2015. He’s seen all our flags including being part of the first nationals champion team in 2002. He was also part of winning teams in 2010 and 2024. Because of his contributions over the years he managed to be named a life member twice!!!

This one is a man who has seen almost our entire history! Matty B has been part of premierships in 2002, 2010 all the way through to the 2s taking it in 2024. He is a club legend who was twice name best non Australian at nationals in 2003 in the 1s and 2015 in the 2s. Also named Magpie of the Year for his contributions in 2005 and 2011. He even managed to be named a life member twice!

Some facts that we’ve learned about Dos:
- she started playing footy after she was selected for a professional women’s football team
- she rock climbs like a beast
- she is fluent in Portuguese, Spanish, and maybe Italian
- she was a chef and now in construction
- basically can do everything!!!!!!!

She’s also co-organised a full recruiting event for the club already after being with us only a handful of months!

An extremely deserving local legend!
