Vincent Metzp Physical Culture

Vincent Metzp Physical Culture Writer, performer, singer, visual artist, teacher, and physical culturist.

Vincent, a writer, performer, singer, visual artist, teacher, and physical culturist, grew up in NYC and attended art school, drama school, graduate school, and the scene of the Lower East Side clubs. Raised as a latchkey kid in an artist housing complex in Lower Manhattan during the 1970s and 80s, Vincent watched a lot of TV. He holds a BFA in Drama from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and an MA i

n Exercise Physiology. His experiences performing in punk bands, on and off Broadway, in experimental theater, and his formative years traveling the country in a VW bus influence his storytelling. Raised as a latchkey kid in New York City during the 1970s and 80s, Abbott and Costello, the Dead End Kids, Star Trek, Kolchak: The Night Stalker, Chiller, and Looney Tunes shaped Vincent’s early aesthetic. This influence was balanced by an artistic family, including a painter grandfather, a Shakespearean actor father, and an illustrator and teacher mother. Growing up in an artists’ housing complex in lower Manhattan, engaging with the recreational substances of the era and diving into the music scene first as a fan and then as a performer molded the rhythms and beats in Vincent’s head. After attending acting school and completing post-graduate studies in Exercise Physiology, Vincent blends mystery, sci-fi, horror, and a respect for the intelligence and time investment that readers dedicate to his work. Guided by his 99-cent Ethic, a principle reminiscent of penny dreadfuls, agit-pop, pulp fiction, comic books, grindhouse, and punk rock, he believes art should be created by and for the people, easily made, entertaining, and ultimately contribute to shaping and directing the collective conscience.
