I used to think my routine was what made me disciplined. Turns out it was what made me feel safe. The second it slipped, I’d feel behind, even on vacation, even when nothing was actually wrong.

This trip I didn’t plan a single workout or meal. For someone used to planning everything, that kind of unstructured time can feel deeply uncomfortable at first. For me, it turned into something freeing instead, once I let myself sit in it.

So many men and women I work with live by rules like this without even realizing it. Feeling guilty for resting, for eating a certain way, for not having a plan, that’s not actually normal. There’s so much more room in life than that.

If you read this and felt something, that’s worth paying attention to. Save this for the next time you feel guilty for resting. If this sounds familiar, feel free to reach out. 🤍

There aren’t many chances left in your twenties and thirties to travel with a close friend for a week and a half.

I got to do that this summer with zero drama, zero blowups the whole time. It shouldn’t be shocking that there were no issues, but in my work, I hear how rare that actually is when friends travel together. It comes down to communication, patience, and being an active listener.

Over the past few summers of traveling with friends, I’ve learned that’s really what makes or breaks a trip. So many people are taking vacations and weekends away right now, and there’s so often drama that comes with it.

Here are some things we did throughout our trip that made it so easy and pleasant to be together:

If your friendships or relationships could use more of this, feel free to reach out and learn how to communicate. 🤍

I am so much more than a therapist and a coach. And I think it is important you know that.

For a long time I was caught in the cycle of optimizing everything. Proving something to the world that I did not have to prove. The internal work taught me I was trying to prove something to myself that was already proven. That I am enough. That I am a success.

My time, my habits, my output. I was good at performing life more than actually living it.

This past year I have worked hard to change that. Not by doing less, but by letting more in and learning when to say no. By being real and genuine. By approaching things with curiosity instead of judgment. That shift led me to real relationships, real community, and real moments that have nothing to do with productivity.

This summer has tested me. It has been full in every sense of the word. Four big events, speaking engagements, meaningful conversations, new clients, new experiences, and people who reminded me why all of this matters.

I still do the work. I still push. But I am proud of myself for learning that rest, connection, and joy are not the opposite of high performance. They are what make it sustainable.

I share my life here outside of session because I believe in practicing what I preach. I am not advising from the outside. I am in it with you. 💫💕

This is what betting on yourself actually looks like. 💫

Over the past few weeks I have been showing up in ways that pushed me, stretched me, and reminded me exactly why I do this work.

I spoke on a panel alongside at about hormone health, the way stress lives in our bodies as women, and why self care is not optional.

I hosted the first ever Mentally Fit with Ellin event. Train Your Mind, Move Your Body. A vision I have carried for a long time. A space where mental and physical wellness finally exist together, not as separate goals but as one way of living.

And I chaired Shabbat 1.0 for for the second year in a row. My Jewish community has always been a foundation for me. Getting to lead within it, fills me in a way that grounds everything else.

You see the highlights. What you do not see is everything that went into it. The late nights, the uncertainty, the moments of wondering if it would all come together.

I am not sharing this as a highlight reel. I am sharing this to inspire you and to be real with you.

If you want a certain life, you have to create it. No one is going to hand it to you. It is hard. There were so many moments I doubted myself these past few weeks. I am exhausted. But my heart is so full.

When you want something, the hardest part is just starting. You will be scared. You will wonder what other people think. I promise you, it does not matter as much as you think it does.

I am also sharing this because I am more than a therapy session or a coaching call. I do the work too. I care deeply. I am human. And I think it is important to normalize that.

If this resonates, save it for the day you need a reminder. The life you want is worth everything it asks of you. 🤍

A lot of athletes, executives, first responders, and high performers learned early on how to handle things on their own.

To stay busy.
To keep moving.
To not rely on anyone.

From the outside, it looks like discipline, independence, and having it all together.

But over time, this pattern makes it harder to slow down, process emotions, and let people in.

I see this often in my work as a therapist, especially with the ones who are always the strong one, the reliable one, the one everyone else leans on.

There’s a difference between independence and emotional avoidance.

Real mental fitness isn’t just about managing everything on your own. It’s about learning how to receive support, build connection, and feel safe enough to not carry it all alone.

That’s where a lot of the deeper work happens.
If this resonates, you’re not alone 🤍

If this resonates and you’re curious about what that deeper work could look like for you, send me a DM.

There are two kinds of high standards and most people have never been taught the difference. 🎯

One is rooted in self-respect. It feels like clarity. You know what you want, you can name it, and when something doesn’t fit, you move on clean.

The other is rooted in self-protection. It’s not really about quality — it’s about control.

👉If you screen everything hard enough, nothing gets close enough to hurt you. It feels like discernment. But it’s actually distance with a really good justification.

The tell? Genuine standards feel grounding. Protective standards feel like vigilance.

Ask yourself: When something doesn’t meet your bar, do you feel clear? Or relieved?
That answer will tell you everything.

Save this if it landed. Share it with someone who calls their fear discernment. ✨
