Happy Jock Soto Day! Last year Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren signed a proclamation declaring August 23 as Jock Soto Day, honoring his legacy as a renowned ballet dancer and role model for the Navajo people.

Recently, Battery Dance had the honor of commissioning a work by Jock for our America 250: Moving Together event as well as the 45th Annual Battery Dance Festival. Here are some photos of the beautiful duet he created on KAR’MEL ANTONYO WADE SMALL ♾️ and Amy Saunder called ‘Heloha’ with music by Jerod Tate.

We’ve had a perfect week of lovely weather by the water, but Sunday there is rain in the forecast. 🌧️ Due to this, the Sunday August 16 performance has been moved to Monday August 17! The performance will still take place at Wagner Park at 7 PM.
