According to the Warriors and Knicks are in talks of a potential draft day swap that would give the Knicks the 2nd overall pick in the 2020 Draft. The Knicks would have to relinquish an asset in addition to the 8th overall pick. Tradable assets could include Frank Nitlikina, Dennis Smith Jr, or Kevin Knox. However with the 2nd pick, the Knicks could land star pick LaMelo Ball. The Warriors are trading down to get Tel Aviv’s Deni Avdija at the 8th pick. The Knicks are in desperate need of a transcendent talent and Knicks fans are hoping for someone like LaMelo - someoneone that has a big city profile and can handle the NYC culture.

Is this a win-win for these two organizations?

As we await the Clippers-Nuggets Western Conference Semifinals series to begin, we look at key moves and changes the Los Angeles Clippers organization have done in the past few years of 'rebuilding' since the era of Lob City to get to this position for a potential 2020 title run.

SWIPE to see the moves that ultimately transformed the Clippers into the powerhouse they are today.

The past few years, the Clippers have used their own “process” to restructure their entire franchise. They transitioned from playing a more traditional style of basketball with a facilitator, a powerful big in the paint, and a couple of sharp shooters on the perimeter, to having 2 two-way wings who are lethal on the scoring end and equally dangerous on the defensive end and a plethora complimentary pieces who can handle their own on both ends of the floor. From 2017, they look like a brand new team and have finally given the Lakers a challenge for the battle of LA. All the steps leading up to this point that the Clippers truly have top tier management but a championship is still in question.

Have the Clippers proved they have the best management in the NBA?

SWIPE to see contract breakdown and statistics.

An aging Al Horford signed a massive 4 year deal worth $109 million with the Philadelphia 76ers. At the age of 33, the Sixers took a huge risk in bringing in Horford. Being on the decline of his career, Horford struggled immensely this year only averaging 11 points a game while playing only 30 minutes a game. The 76ers are in quite of a predicament. With the firing of Brett Brown, questions arising about their superstars in Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid, and a severe lack of shooting all around, the Sixers need to make adjustments in order to take it to the next level. Sixers GM has stated that Simmons and Embiid are not tradable assets but hasn’t said anything about Horford. Given his age, Horford seems more of a liability than a benefit to most teams. With this along with the Tobias Harris contract, the Sixers find themselves in a peculiar situation with the cap space. Rumors around the cap not rising as expected due to the impacts of the Coronavirus, the Sixers need to dig deep into their financials and analyze how they can restructure their roster to compliment their two stars better. Al Horford had a great career with the Hawks and Celtics, but it seems that he may be edging off the cliff. Let’s see how this offseason plays out for him and the Sixers. Anything is possible with “The Process”.

Fred VanVleet is on the free agency frenzy radar and a few teams could use him.

New York Knicks:
The Knicks are on the list of teams that should pursue Fred Vanvleet because - well let’s face it - the Knicks could use anyone at this point. VanVleet can continue to build his game and his confidence level with a hard knocks coach like Tibs. He would be a great start in the process of the Knicks building blocks. With a young core in RJ, Mitch Robinson, and Julius Randall, Fred can come in and help lead these guys with a championship mentality. Financially this makes sense, but knowing the Knicks, they’ll probably offer him some absurd super max deals.

Detroit Pistons:
Detroit is in dire need of some reinforcements. With Derrick Rose coming off the bench, they can try to bring VanVleet into that starting point guard spot where him and Blake could potentially become a solid 1-2 punch and bring Lob City to the Motor City. The cap situation is not looking good for Detroit with already being over last year’s cap. But with expiring salaries such as Reggie Jackson (who they bought out this past season) and Brandon Knight (who is somehow still getting paid), the Pistons are in a position to offer VanVleet an offer within his range.

Toronto Raptors:
The Toronto Raptors, well this one is a given. VanVleet already has a solid foundation with his fellow championship teammates. With a mentor like Kyle Lowry, VanVleet has fit in very well with this team. Depending on if Raptors resign Gasol and/or Ibaka, Raptors can also offer VanVleet $15-18 million - well within his range. They can maintain that championship pedigree and with the 2020 NBA Head Coach of the Year in Nick Nurse, VanVleet will continue to have great leadership helping in his future development.

Which team could use VanVleet the most?

Breaking News: The Philadelphia 76ers have officially fired Brett Brown. After being swept by the Celtics, a lot of blame was pointing towards the head coach. Was this the right move by the ? Or was Brett Brown the scapegoat?

The have fell short in the yet again. With Ben Simmons being out, and Head Coach Brett Brown could not manage to win one game in the first round against the . Embiid, who performed well as the lone star of the team, displayed his disappointment post game stating, “It sucks when you play super hard and try to do everything possible to win games, it’s hard when you come up short”.

The 76ers have repeatedly praised “The Process” as their method of success. Struggles from both Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid as their two superstars have drawn questions on whether the two stars can coincide.

There’s a few things who you can blame for the Sixers failures in the recent few seasons. This season you can point to Ben Simmon’s injury, Brett Brown placing Simmons at the 4 position, Al Horford who made $27.2 million this year but averaged only 5.6 ppg in the first round, and the lack of shooting was evidently displayed in these playoffs. Something needs to change.

Who is to blame the most for the 76ers having an early exit in the 2020 NBA Playoffs? What needs to be changed to help them get over the hump next season?

According to many sources, the Brooklyn Nets are expected to heavily pursue legendary coach Gregg Popovich. Popovich, 71, is one of the most respected and revered individuals in NBA history. The 5 time champion is unlikely to leave his post in San Antonio but the Nets are looking into making an offer that will be quite enticing. How much would the Nets have to offer Pop to come coach in Brooklyn? If he were to come to Brooklyn, does that make them a lock for the chip?

The Same Sh*t Times Volume 5:

Did Aaron Boone cost Aaron Judge the AL MVP?

08/14/2020

The Brooklyn Nets finish with a 5-3 record in the Bubble and have clinched the 7th seed in the Eastern Conference. Ceros LeVert carried the Nets by averaging 25 points a game and taking on the leadership role.

“We got to a position where we regrouped as a staff and said, ‘How can we put these guys in the best position to succeed with the personnel?’ ... We really streamlined things and really allowed players to play with confidence.” - Nets interim-coach Jacque Vaugh

Did Jacque Vaugh prove that he deserves the Nets head coaching job?

Aaron Judge and Clint Frazier were both drafted in the same draft class yet have experienced different careers thus far. With Judge poised to become the next “captain” and Frazier drawing attention for the wrong reasons, questions have risen about a Frazier’s future. However, Wednesday night Frazier stepped in for Judge after being called up and showed the force that he can hold his own. Frazier went 3-for-4 with a homer in the second, a single in the third and a double in a fifth.

Should the Yanks be rewarding this man and invest in his skill set with more playing time and consistent at bats? Or should they trade him for a starting pitcher and bring Cole a reliable partner?
