Our Elite Dance Intensive dancers ROCKED the studio with Robert Redick’s choreography🤩

Robert Redick choreographed this captivating final piece for our four EDI dancers, wrapping up four days of hard work at 2121 Broadway!

Elite Dance Intensive is an invite-only intensive held at the studios Steps on Broadway. Participants are selected by Executive Director, Joe Lanteri and The Steps on Broadway Academy Director, Jennifer Kreichman. Watching these dancers do what they do best reminds us why we love creating space for young artists to grow. We can’t wait to meet our next group of EDI’s!♥️

Kicking off our collaboration with Mark Morris Dance Group for the 2026 Academic Year Artist in Residence! The Steps Academy celebrates this significant milestone, marking our FIFTH collaboration for our Artist in Residence program. ⭐️✋

Our Pre-Professional Ensemble continues to grow with amazing opportunities like these, and now they get to share the studio and creative process with former Mark Morris Dance Group company members Elisa Clark and Marjorie Folkman, who will be restaging Mark Morris’ iconic work L’Allegro, Il Penseroso, Ed Il Moderato. As a part of this collaboration, they will be teaching a weekly class for our Pre-Professional dancers, and setting an excerpt of L’Allegro, Il Penseroso, Ed Il Moderato to be performed in our upcoming STARLIGHT Winter Concert.

ELISA CLARK (she/her) is an award-winning artist, educator, and administrator who trained at the Maryland Youth Ballet prior to receiving a B.F.A. from The Juilliard School under the direction of Benjamin Harkarvy, with guidance from Carolyn Adams. She first performed with Mark Morris Dance Group in 2005, remained a full-time company member through 2011. Elisa served as MMDG Rehearsal Director from 2024-2026 and has frequently returned as a guest performer, company teacher, and stager.

Marjorie Folkman danced as a member of the Mark Morris Dance Group (1996-2007), and with Martha Clarke, Sara Rudner, Richard Colton, Amy Spencer, Kraig Patterson, Neta Pulvermacher, Sally Hess, and the Repertory Understudy Group for the Merce Cunningham Dance Company, among others. Folkman continues to work with Dance Heginbotham, including for Oliver Tompkins Ray’s Woolgathering with Patti Smith at the Baryshnikov Arts Center, and Isaac Mizrahi’s yearly productions for the Guggenheim Museum’s Works & Process Series.

THANK YOU to the Mark Morris Dance Group! We can’t wait to watch the growth that is bound to happen in these studios💫

The STEPS LEGACY continues to sustain us ⭐️ Caroline is taking after her mother, Kate Loh, one step at a time. Caroline is enrolled at the Steps Academy, where Kate teaches in addition to her weekly Open Program classes.

Kate reflects on the relationships that the Steps community has brought her, and remarks how she witnesses that same love, care, and connection growing in her own classes. ♥️ When dance brings us together, we grow alongside each other. The Steps community is what Kate is excited for Caroline to experience as she embarks on her journey with the Academy’s First Steps Program — “...It just warms my heart to see that continues to carry on through each generation here at Steps on Broadway...” 🫂

Find your place and build your own legacy HERE at the Steps Academy and at Steps on Broadway. Learn more about our First Steps, Youth Division, Adaptive, and Pre-Professional programs at the Steps Academy through the link in our bio.🔗
