With today's performance, Angel Reese is showing exactly why I believed she deserved both the AP and Kia WNBA DPOTY awards.
And she's making an even stronger argument that she is, without a doubt, the best player to come out of the 2024 WNBA Draft.
Think about that for a moment.
SIX TEAMS PASSED ON ANGEL REESE.
2024 WNBA Draft Top 10
1. Caitlin Clark โ Indiana Fever
2. Cameron Brink โ Los Angeles Sparks
3. Kamilla Cardoso โ Chicago Sky
4. Rickea Jackson โ Los Angeles Sparks
5. Jacy Sheldon โ Dallas Wings
6. Aaliyah Edwards โ Washington Mystics
7. Angel Reese โ Chicago Sky
8. Alissa Pili โ Minnesota Lynx
9. Carla Leite โ Dallas Wings
10. Leรฏla Lacan โ Connecticut Sun
That lottery to No. 10 stretch produced some of the most recognizable players from this draft class.
Clark.
Brink.
Cardoso.
Jackson.
Reese.
And here's another fact that makes this even more interesting.
EVERY OTHER PLAYER FROM THAT TOP 10 HAS ALREADY BEEN ELIMINATED FROM THE 2026 WNBA PLAYOFFS.
ANGEL REESE IS THE ONLY ONE LEFT.
If Reese goes on to help the Atlanta Dream win the 2026 WNBA championship, it's going to be DAMN HARD to deny that she is the best player to come out of the 2024 draft class.
And remember, she wasn't the first player selected.
She wasn't the second.
She wasn't the third.
SIX TEAMS PASSED ON HER.
Today, in her first WNBA Semifinals game, Reese put up:
17 POINTS
7 REBOUNDS
4 STEALS
3 BLOCKS
She was everywhere defensively and made an impact without needing to dominate the scoring column.
That's what makes her so difficult to deal with.
The 2024 draft class has plenty of talent.
But Angel Reese is making one hell of a case that she should have been the FIRST PLAYER FROM THAT CLASS TAKEN.
