For Motivation Monday, let music fuel your workout! You probably already know that music can be a powerful motivational tool—and there’s also plenty of research to back this up. In fact, psychologists have found that music distracts people from pain and fatigue, elevates mood, increases endurance, and reduces perceived effort, meaning people can run farther, bike longer, and swim faster than usual when listening to music—often without realizing it.

If you use the Peloton App or have a Peloton Bike, Bike+, Tread, or Row, you can filter classes by the genre of music you’re in the mood to hear. This can be one great way to keep you motivated throughout the entire class and give you that boost to keep going when you start to get tired.

Remember, rest days are important! That doesn’t mean you have to sit on the couch all day doing nothing (although, that’s okay too!) But you can have an active rest day!
An Active Rest Day could be as simple as just getting in some extra movement. If you drive to the grocery store, or work, or when you're headed home, try adding in some extra steps by parking a little further away. If you take the bus or the subway, then get off one stop before and walk to your destination. It’s important to take a rest day from the gym, but you don’t have to remain in stillness or feel bad about giving your body the break it needs. You can even focus on gentle movement such as yin or restorative yoga.

Motivation Monday! It’s a new week and the end of the month. If you fell off your health and wellness journey a little bit that’s okay! Let’s get back to it. And if you’re still going strong, keep it going!
One thing to remember going forward is not to compare yourself to others! This can be one of the quickest ways to derail your motivation to exercise. It’s important to remember that we all have different bodies and genetics and no one will look the same. Keep focusing on yourself, set realistic goals, and measure your progress against yourself.
Once you have this mindset, then you will be able to continue building a healthy relationship with fitness that can last a lifetime.

Get your vitamin levels checked–especially vitamin D! In the winter it’s pretty common for us to be lacking vitamin D, that’s why it’s important to check out if you have a deficiency so you can take the necessary supplements.

Strength training offers a multitude of advantages:

Challenge your growth! When it comes to exercise, the only way we see necessary growth is by challenging our bodies beyond our normal limits.

Sometimes we get to a spot in our workout routine that gets a little too comfortable and we stop growing and progressing. This is why it’s important to challenge yourself and change things up!

Don’t be so hard on yourself. If there’s a day that you can’t make it into the gym, that’s okay! It’s just one day and your body needs rest.

If you find yourself thinking negatively because you have one rest day, or one cheat day on your healthy lifestyle, then change the script!

Start changing the inner dialogue to words that are positive and encouraging rather than negative. Be nicer to yourself and understand that we all need a break physically and mentally.
