From January through July 2026, La Familia Project proudly served more than 600 young people across New York City.

This work would not be possible without the support of our incredible community, coaches, teaching artists, facilitators, volunteers, donors, and partners. Because of your commitment, we have been able to provide arts programming, wellness initiatives, mentorship, athletic opportunities, food drives, clothing distributions, and soccer equipment to the young people and families we serve.

With the generous fundraising support of partners such as and the offering of community spaces to do partnered community events like Friends of Crown Heights Educational Centers and LOVENYSOCCER, we have been able to expand our impact even further and continue showing up for our communities in meaningful ways.

To everyone who has supported our mission, thank you for believing in the work we do and in the power of community.

As we prepare for the upcoming school year, we are energized, grateful, and ready to continue serving New York City.

This is why we love it. Nowadays sports are becoming monetized, exclusive, and inaccessible for our communities.
Through sports we can change lives but how can we create access and equitable opportunities for ourselves and our youth with limited resources, monopolized spaces, or by prioritizing money?

This World Cup has shown us that many treat money as a priority, that immigrants or asylum seekers matter if they are scoring goals, and that sports are in fact political.
However, it also showed us how we are stronger when we come together as a community, that we can care for somebody else in another part of the world, and that sports are from the people for the people.
For us, fútbol is part of our culture, it is not a trend. We need access and equity in sports, for us, for our youth, for our communities.

Free Fútbol Program Alert ‼️

Back again with Game Changers 🥇 in partnership with Queens Community Justice Ctr. 🤝and thanks to the New York Mets Foundation.

This time we have a FREE fútbol ⚽️ camp and tourney 🏆.

9 weeks of fútbol and community. Get PAID 💰 to play.
There are incentives for participants who complete the 9 weeks ✔️.

Se armaron las retas! Antes del “pick up” existían las retas. Cuando la tarde perfecta era un balón, un par de mochilas o piedras para la portería y tus cuates. Se apostaba el refresco de dos litros, las papitas y quizás unos tazos o hielocos. Para que no olvidemos al niñx interior. Vamos a echar las retas en un 5v5 hasta que se prenda la luz de la calle. Se juega en piso y con tu playera del América, de las Chivas, Pumas, Cruz Azul? o quizás del Club Deportivo Oro… La que tú quieras mientras sea de México 🇲🇽. Reglas? Pos ahí vemos. Esto es para los que juegan bien, o mal, o quizás ya no juegan… pero de que se arman las retas, se arman las retas. Jueves 28 de Mayo a las 12pm. Donde? En la calle.

Game Changers 🏆 2026 with , a free 8 week Basketball 🏀 Program for youth between 13-18 years old. A brave space for our youth to gather, play and enjoy an activity that is just for them. Programs like these are vital for our communities, especially for the more vunerable under resourced areas we serve. What would it look like if our young folks had everything they needed to thrive, not just survive? Help us keep these programs running, “Dare to Dream” with us. La Familia Project was built from lived experience, deep care, and the belief that our communities deserve more.

More access.
More support.
More spaces to move, create, heal, and grow.

What started through Vidal’s journey with sport, healing, and mental health support, and through Javana’s work in arts, wellness, and youth empowerment, became something bigger than either of them alone. It became a shared vision rooted in community.

LFP exists to create intentional spaces where sports, arts, and wellness are not extras - they are tools for confidence, connection, self-discovery, and care. For the young people, families, and communities we serve across NYC, this work is about being seen, being supported, and being reminded that no one has to grow alone.
This is the story behind La Familia Project.

And this is only the beginning.
