Your Nervous System Is Always Listening

Your nervous system pays attention to more than you realize.

It notices when you rush.
It notices when you ignore your needs.
It notices when you feel safe, supported, and connected.

Many women spend years trying to think their way out of stress.

But the nervous system does not respond to logic alone.

It responds to experiences of safety.

This is why healing often involves slowing down, becoming more aware of the body, and learning to recognize what support feels like.

Not because you're broken.

Because your body is doing exactly what it was designed to do.

🌿 Somatic therapy offers a gentle, body-centered approach to understanding stress, anxiety, and overwhelm.

When Exhaustion Becomes Your Normal

One of the challenges of burnout is that it rarely happens all at once.

It builds slowly.

You get used to feeling tired.
You get used to pushing through.
You get used to carrying stress without noticing how much it weighs.

Eventually, exhaustion starts to feel normal.

But just because something feels familiar does not mean it is sustainable.

Your body was never meant to live in a constant state of doing, fixing, and pushing forward.

Sometimes healing begins with noticing what you've been tolerating for far too long.

🌿 Somatic therapy helps you reconnect with your body's signals and create space for rest, awareness, and change.

Who Are You Beyond the Roles You Carry?

Caretaker.
Helper.
Problem-solver.
Peacemaker.

Many of us learn to define ourselves by what we do for others.

But beneath those roles is a person with needs, dreams, preferences, and a voice of their own.

One of the most meaningful parts of healing is learning to reconnect with that person.

Not becoming someone new.

Remembering who you've always been.

As we move through June, consider:

✨ What part of you needs a little more room to breathe?

Your Body Remembers What Your Mind Tries to Forget

Have you ever told yourself:

"I should be over this by now."

Yet your shoulders stay tight.
Your stomach stays uneasy.
Your nervous system stays on alert.

This is because healing is not just about understanding what happened.

The body carries experiences too.

Somatic therapy helps you gently reconnect with the signals your body has been sending all along, creating space for greater awareness, regulation, and self-trust.

Your body is not working against you.

It may be trying to tell you something important.

What if your fatigue isn't a failure?

So many people I talk with feel exhausted, overwhelmed, disconnected, or like they just can't seem to reset, even when they're trying to rest.

We often assume exhaustion means we're not doing enough, resting enough, or managing our lives well enough. But from a nervous system perspective, fatigue can be something different. It can be communication.

Sometimes the body is simply telling us it has been carrying too much for too long.

In this week's newsletter and podcast, I explore fatigue and burnout through a somatic lens, why exhaustion is not always about doing too much, and how learning to listen to your nervous system can change the way you respond to burnout.

Your fatigue is not a personal failure.

It may be your body asking for something it has needed for a long time.

The kind that lingers even after a weekend off. The kind that follows you through the day no matter how many boxes you check off your list. The kind that makes simple tasks feel heavy and leaves you wondering what is wrong with you.

When Being the Strong One Gets Heavy

Many women have spent years being the strong one.

The one everyone depends on.
The one who keeps going.
The one who figures it out.

Over time, strength can become so automatic that you stop noticing how much it costs.

Somatic therapy invites a different question:

What happens when you stop carrying everything alone?

Sometimes healing begins when we allow ourselves to receive support instead of always providing it.

You do not have to earn rest.
You do not have to prove your worth through exhaustion.

What Might Exist Beneath the Role?

Awareness is often the first step.

Many women recognize they have spent years being the caretaker, the problem solver, or the one everyone leans on.

Yet awareness alone doesn't automatically make change easier.

When usefulness has been connected to worth for years, stepping back can feel uncomfortable. Sometimes even frightening.

The body may respond with guilt.
Anxiety.
Restlessness.
A sense that you're doing something wrong.

But what if those feelings aren't proof that you're making a mistake?

What if they're simply signs that you're doing something different?

Somatic therapy helps create space to explore what exists beneath the roles you've carried for so long.

Not to become someone else.

Not to stop caring about others.

But to reconnect with the parts of yourself that may have been waiting patiently underneath all the responsibility.

Because healing is not about becoming less of who you are.

It is about becoming more fully yourself.

Healing Doesn't Have to Be Weekly

One of the most common questions I hear is:

"Do I have to come every week?"

The answer is no.

While some people benefit from weekly sessions, others find that biweekly therapy provides the space they need to reflect, practice, and integrate what they're learning between appointments.

Somatic therapy is not about rushing through healing.

Often, meaningful change happens in the moments between sessions as you begin noticing your patterns, listening to your body, and responding differently to stress.

Biweekly appointments can be a wonderful option for those who:
✨ Have busy schedules
✨ Prefer a slower pace
✨ Are looking for ongoing support and maintenance
✨ Want a more affordable therapy option

Healing is not measured by how often you come to therapy. It is measured by the relationship you build with yourself.

🌿 Exciting News from Northwoods Velvære Studio 🌿

I am excited to share that I am now licensed to provide therapy services in both Minnesota and North Dakota!

As a somatic therapist, I support women navigating anxiety, trauma, burnout, chronic stress, neurodivergence, chronic illness, and life transitions through compassionate, body-centered care.

Therapy is offered virtually, making it possible to connect from the comfort of your own home whether you're in a larger community or a rural area.

Many of the women I work with are strong, capable, and caring. They've spent years showing up for everyone else while quietly carrying stress, overwhelm, or difficult experiences on their own. Therapy offers a space to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and receive support without having to do it all alone.

✨ Currently accepting private-pay clients in Minnesota and North Dakota.

Healing doesn't require a crisis. Sometimes it begins with simply giving yourself permission to be supported.

With care,

When Being the Strong One Becomes Exhausting

At some point in our lives, many of us slip into a role.

The strong one.
The reliable one.
The helper.
The fixer.

Maybe it developed because it was needed. Maybe it helped create stability during a difficult season. Maybe it was how you learned to stay connected and safe.

The challenge is that roles we once needed can become identities we never question.

Over time, always being the strong one can leave little room for your own needs, emotions, and experiences.

Somatic therapy invites us to gently explore these patterns, not through judgment, but through curiosity. What happens in your body when you consider asking for help? What sensations arise when you imagine putting your own needs first?

Sometimes healing begins by noticing the role you've been carrying and asking whether it still serves you.
