Welcome to the New Ulm ATA Martial Arts. Our club is affiliated with the ATA, American Taekwondo Association, one of the largest Taekwondo organizations in the United States. Instructor Jim Schwab is a 4th Degree Black Belt, who trained under Sr. Master Janelle Gleisner with the Burnsville, MN Academy. Instructor Eric Gleisner is a 1st Degree Black Belt who also trained

at the Burnsville Academy. Master Gleisner has been providing Martial Arts training in the South Metro for over 17 years. All instructors with the ATA are highly trained and reliable using a curriculum called Songahm Taekwondo. We train students not only physically but mentally as well. Students learn life skills which include discipline, respect, courtesy, and self esteem.

This morning at the ATA World Championships in Phoenix, AZ, I competed in the 70 & up division for 4th and 5th degree black belts.

In the Black Belt Forms competition, I earned 1st place—my first World Title in Forms! I followed that up with another 1st place finish in Weapons, performing the Bo Staff form, earning me my second World Title in two years.

Tomorrow, I return to the ring to compete in Combat Sparring and Traditional Sparring, starting at 8:00 AM.

These ATA World Championships are the highest level of competition in our organization, and I’m honored to represent and compete at this level. Looking forward to the next challenge!
