Loyalhanna Clinic will be March 24th a Sunday. Depending on better weather could be Saturday the 23rd or following weekend. Turnout is always better with warmer weather and available drywear for students to wear. We need people to step up and bring their extra gear. I have more than most to loan but not enough for a class. As usual, Safety boaters are needed to help out.
Clinic meeting time is 8:30, Get people geared up, arrange shuttle to Four Mile Run Road just below Idlewild. If water is too high we move upstream to Ligonier. Bring a lunch in your boat for on the river. We will set shuttle vehicle a several locations for people who are having problems as done in past.
We start class hopefully around 9:15-30, Class is held to explain what people will learn, safety on water, discuss how o paddle etc.
By 10:00 we will hopefully be paddling upstream to the confluence of Four Mile where we will teach how to lean a boat for successful Ferries. around noon stop for lunch. More advanced ferry practice .We start downstream in ferry mode for approximately 2/3 of the trip, Boat scouting as we go, checking out two small falls and many rapids. The goal is to learn how to look where you are going and make paddling active instead of reactive. as we come out of the gorge we will then turn our boats stream and play until Kingston which we will run. after collecting shuttle car we will head for food and beverages at Don Patron Latrobe plaza. Food was great and fast last year.
I do have boats and paddle gear to rent for $25.00 a day. No Rec boats, canoes are welcome if you have some whitewater experience. All boats must have flotation including canoes. This Clinic is Free as it always has been. A very comprehensive eye opener for existing and new boater out of roll class.
