It’s with deep sadness and reverence, but also with a determination to celebrate a life well lived, that The Club announces the passing of Senior Member Bill Prest, 96.

Bill was a legend around these parts and at The Club. A long time Springfield Road resident, he was an exemplary contributor throughout his membership when he served a variety of roles including Club President, long-time Executive Board Trustee, chief cook at our Ox Roasts for years and much more. He was a fixture at most of our many events and a friend to all who met him. He was the king of joke telling and only had to be given a tiny hint of a joke he told long ago and he would recall and retell it like it was yesterday.

Bill was a devoted husband to the late Evadene; father of beloved daughter Patty Prest (Jim) Bricker and son, John; and grandfather to Johnny.

As he was known to report at each December general membership meeting for many years while overseeing sales of bags of hard tack candy made by Evadene and her church lady friends, “I’m going to heaven on the candy plan.” We trust that worked out.

Rest in peace, “Willie”. You are missed already. Pictured here with the late Senior member Jim Foreman on the left, Bill is on the right.

This morning The Club’s annual Fly Fishing seminar was held in our pavilion. What a wealth of information was shared including fly tying equipment, materials and techniques; fly selection; fly fishing rods/reels and gear; casting tips and tricks; and so much more.

In partnership with our friends Ohio Department of Natural Resources and its Ohio Division of Wildlife the seminar was well attended and guided by Senior members and brothers Frank and Bruce DeRhodes and a host of helpers. We extend our thanks to all who added helping value and all who participated!!

To protect her fawn, the deer mother will spend very little time with it. This is to prevent attracting predators to the fawn’s location. She will leave her fawn in various hiding places for long periods of time, returning several times a day to nurse it. By staying away, the mother is protecting it.
