THE 2ND ANNUAL DR. McCOMBS FALL TROUT DERBY IS COMING!
We are excited to announce that TWO MORE FAMILIES will earn the opportunity to head north on an unforgettable Michigan fishing adventure to chase salmon and steelhead with
Big River Outfitters and Schaub Outfitters as part of our 2026 grand prize package.
🐟 The fall trout are going to be BIG!
The Hooked on Trout Farm will once again be stocking the derby with an incredible variety of trout, including:
🎣 Brook Trout
🎣 Brown Trout
🎣 Cut-Bows
🎣 Golden Rainbows
🎣 Blue Bows
🎣 Rainbow Trout
🎣 Tiger Trout
Fish will range from around 1.5 pounds to some pushing nearly 10 POUNDS!
We haven’t set the official date just yet, but the 2nd Annual Dr. McCombs Fall Trout Derby will be held on a Saturday in late October or early November. Stay tuned, we’ll announce the date as soon as it’s finalized!
We’re also excited to follow along with our 2025 Fall Derby winners, who are preparing to make their Michigan trips in early October!

Christian, the young man who caught the MONSTER catfish at Tuscora Park that we featured in a recent post, was our 2025 Fall Trout Derby 1st-place winner! Now he’ll get the chance to take his fishing skills north to Michigan and chase salmon and steelhead. We can’t wait to see how he and our other winners do!

What started as a local youth fishing derby has grown into one of Ohio’s largest youth fishing events, and that simply wouldn’t be possible without our families, volunteers, community, and incredible sponsors.
One of our recent fishing posts reached more than 200,000 views! That’s an incredible amount of attention for youth fishing right here in our community.
