In partnership with City of New Philadelphia, OH Wastewater department the Tilapia were released today into both Tuscora Park pond and the lagoon. The Tilapia will help control the algae while also giving folks another fish to catch out of the ponds. After September 1st any Tilapia that is caught can be harvested.

🐟 Our agency awarded 10,127 regular and 1,009 Master Angler Fish Ohio pins to anglers who reeled in trophy fish among 26 different species in 2025. Well-known fisheries such as Lake Erie, Alum Creek Lake, Buckeye Lake, Caesar Creek Lake, Indian Lake, and Mosquito Creek Lake were among the most popular locations for Fish Ohio catches.

🏆 Those who reel in a qualifying catch receive the commemorative Fish Ohio pin for their first entry and a Master Angler pin for catching qualifiers of four different species in the same year. Last year, 1,009 anglers were awarded a Master Angler pin. Since the Fish Ohio program began in 1976, more than 430,000 catches have been recognized.

What a great day yesterday at Tuscora Park for the New Philadelphia Trout Derby Jeff and I would like to thank all the sponsors and volunteers that helped make it yet another great derby!

We would also like to thank the fish for their cooperation as they were biting all day! 🐟🐟

We have estimated that around 600 of the rainbow trout were caught during the event! This leaves roughly 900 of them remaining!

Be on the lookout for more information regarding the fall derby!

Today had to be our most successful event when it comes to catch rate. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many fish caught in one setting ever. Even the Osprey got in on the action!
