Over the last 72 hours, I’ve walked through multiple disaster zones. I’ve seen homes completely demolished and families facing the reality of losing everything they owned. I’ve also seen neighbors helping neighbors, communities coming together, and companies setting competition aside to lend a hand wherever it’s needed.

Experiences like this put life into perspective. They remind us how quickly things can change, but also how strong people can be when they come together. In the middle of devastation, I’ve witnessed some of the very best of humanity.

When you see homes reduced to piles of debris, families trying to salvage a few belongings, and entire neighborhoods changed in a matter of minutes, a lot of the everyday frustrations start to seem much smaller. At the same time, you also get to witness some of the best parts of people—neighbors helping neighbors, strangers showing up with equipment and supplies, crews from competing companies working side by side, and communities coming together when it matters most.

The destruction is a reminder of how quickly life can change. The response is a reminder of how resilient people can be.
