This Lunar New Year, I teamed up with a talented artist from northern China and was invited by the Schoharie River Center to share the fun of traditional arts with a group of delightful students. If you can spare four minutes to watch this video all the way through, you are probably someone who truly cares about the healthy growth of our children. 2024-A Year in Retrospect
(Winter)

In the winter of 2024, several of our fall Tai Chi programs concluded.

In November, I had the privilege of completing the Artist in Residence program with Local Learning: The National Network for Folk Arts in Education and the Mid-Hudson Teachers Center. We convened at SUNY New Paltz to reflect on our experiences and share our work. You can read more about the event here:

2024-A Year in Retrospect
(Autumn)
This autumn, I had the privilege of serving as a guest artist in a middle school classroom in Rockland County.

Thanks to the support of Local Learning: The National Network for Folk Arts in Education for their invitation to participate in their “Culture, Community, and the Classroom”project. I was able to engage with both teachers and students in sharing the culture and art of Tai Chi.

The students thoughtfully brought their interpretations of Taoist wisdom into the creation of Chinese silk fan calligraphy and painting. Each fan became a canvas for ideas similar to those in the Tao Te Ching, beautifully blending philosophy and art.

During my second visit, the students interviewed me about Tai Chi and other cultural traditions, demonstrating genuine curiosity and respect for these ancient practices.

Cultural and artistic traditions serve as bridges between all people, fostering understanding, connection, and shared creativity.

I am honored to be one of the artists chosen by Local Learning to participate in their Culture, Community, and the Classroom program.

I’m really looking forward to working with both the teacher and the students of the selected Middle School in Rockland County.
