Thunder Almost Erases 6-Run Deficit in Loss to Cubs
Despite seeing its six-run lead whittled down by the end, Cubs still held off Thunder for a 7-5 victory on Wednesday. Thunder put up five runs in the failed comeback. Hough, Casique, Hough, and Kelly all picked up RBI's in the rally.
Cubs earned the victory despite allowing Thunder to score four runs in the seventh inning. Thunder's big inning was driven by singles by Hough and Kelly and a sac fly by Casique.
In the first inning, Cubs got their offense started when Inglis singled on a 21 count, scoring one run.
Hicks got the win for Cubs. Hicks lasted five innings, allowing four hits and one run while striking out four and walking zero. Johnson and Wetter entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief, Johnson recorded the last seven outs to earn the save for Cubs.
Lynch took the loss for Thunder. Lynch surrendered three runs on three hits over two innings, striking out one.
Cubs totaled ten hits in the game. Clark and Wetter each collected multiple hits for Cubs. Wetter and Clark all had two hits to lead Cubs. Inglis led Cubs with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with nine stolen bases.
Thunder racked up ten hits in the game. Mates, Hough, and Casique each had multiple hits for Thunder.
