Kelvin Banks Jr. quietly put together one of the best rookie seasons by an offensive tackle in 2025.

The No. 9 overall pick started every game at left tackle and finished ahead of several established veterans in PFF’s offensive tackle rankings.

Even more impressive, his play continued to improve as the season went on.

CBS Sports recently named Banks as Carolina’s top under-the-radar breakout candidate entering 2026, believing the young tackle could take another major leap in Year 2.

With Tyler Shough looking to establish himself as the franchise quarterback, Banks will play a huge role in protecting Carolina’s future.

The organization officially handed the offensive controls to their ascending second-year field general to launch a fresh competitive era in the Big Easy.

Stepping directly into the primary spot allows the young passer to assert maximum authority over the playbook during critical summer installations.

Shough helps the team by orchestrating the huddle with vocal confidence and processing pre-snap disguises with calm composure.

Building deep operational chemistry with an explosive collection of perimeter playmakers remains a major priority throughout these early offseason workouts.

Local gridiron enthusiasts are highly optimistic that this refined passing identity will unlock massive downfield results once the regular season schedule officially kicks off. ⚜️🏈

Kaden Elliss isn’t trying to replace Demario Davis.

He’s trying to be the best version of himself.

After spending the last three seasons with Atlanta, Elliss returns to New Orleans as one of the Saints’ most important defensive additions. During his time with the Falcons, he started 51 games and recorded 380 tackles, 29 tackles for loss, and 12.5 sacks.

With Davis no longer in New Orleans, many expect Elliss to step into a major leadership role. But Elliss has made it clear that nobody can truly replace a player who earned five All-Pro selections and became one of the franchise’s most respected leaders.

Instead, his focus is mastering Brandon Staley’s defense as quickly as possible.

Elliss says he doesn’t want Week 1 to look like his first game in the system. He wants it to look like his 50th.

The Saints are counting on his production. If he adapts quickly, Elliss could become one of the leaders of a defense looking to return to elite status.

NFL.com’s Eric Edholm is buying stock in Tyler Shough entering the 2026 season.

Shough showed encouraging growth throughout his rookie year, often playing his best football as games progressed. While there were mistakes and growing pains, the New Orleans Saints saw enough to believe he can take a significant step forward in Year 2.

New Orleans has continued building around him by adding Travis Etienne, first-round receiver Jordyn Tyson, and more help along the offensive line. With another year in Kellen Moore’s system, Shough has a real opportunity to emerge as one of the NFL’s biggest breakout quarterbacks.

Finding immediate contributors outside the first round is never easy.

The Saints may have done exactly that with Jonas Sakner.

The rookie safety stepped into a major role from the start and responded with a productive first NFL season.

His year featured:

🖤 80 tackles
💛 2 interceptions
🖤 6 passes defended
💛 1 fumble recovery
🖤 3 tackles for loss

Sakner played in all 17 games and started 16 of them, showing the kind of maturity and consistency teams hope to find when investing in a third-round pick.

New Orleans will enter 2026 looking for building blocks to help shape the future of the defense.

Sakner already looks like one of them.

Spencer Rattler could emerge as a trade candidate before the 2026 deadline as the New Orleans Saints continue shaping their future at quarterback 🔄

Just one year ago, Rattler won the Saints’ training camp competition and opened the season as the starter, making the first eight starts of the year.

However, Tyler Shough eventually took over and finished the season on a high note, solidifying his place as the franchise’s long-term answer under center.

With Shough firmly entrenched as QB1 and former No. 2 overall pick Zach Wilson added to the quarterback room this offseason, Rattler could find himself on the outside looking in.

While his NFL résumé hasn’t produced many wins, Rattler’s 14 career starts provide valuable experience that quarterback-needy teams often seek ✅
