We lost part of our mikethebikeguy family today. Shane was not only the other bike guy, he’s been my best friend of 41 years. I had the pleasure of working with him for 30 of those years starting with bagging groceries at the Real Super Store on Airline, the Bikesmith on Freret, GNO Cyclery and at mikethebikeguy, our home on Magazine. Before all that, we were the best 2-on-2 football players in Harahan. No one could beat Shane, and together nobody could beat us. I will miss more than anything seeing him every day by my side. He loved his family and living next door to his grandmother who was the rock of their family. Not having a strong family of my own, I always felt very welcome as a part of their family. That is how I will always remember my friend who took me in and shared his beautiful family. Shane was the most loyal friend. I will miss him forever.
