U.S. Coast Guard Academy Offshore Sailing & Summer Ocean Racing

U.S. Coast Guard Academy Offshore Sailing & Summer Ocean Racing Welcome to the USCGA Ocean Racing page on Facebook. The Ocean Racing program involves both inshore buoy races and long offshore races. Coast Guard.

Buoy races are unique in challenging the team of cadets to make split second decisions and to perform at high intensity for the duration of the race. In addition, the small cadet-to-officer ratio and extreme conditions the ORP offers allow for intimate mentoring opportunities. ORP participants have high exposu

As snow falls, cadets meet winter storms head-on, laying the foundation for the upcoming Ocean Racing Season. ❄️🌊

Our Vision This Year:

Seamanship — built through long boat-work days, fast-paced inshore and mid-distance racing, and the ultimate test: the Newport-to-Bermuda Race.

Excellence — holding ourselves to elevated standards on and off the water, representing the Academy with pride everywhere we go.

Leadership — forged by real responsibility, real challenges, clear communication under pressure, and striving for greatness together in every race and evolution.

Winter is just the beginning. Summer is in the Air, and the ocean is the proving ground.
