🔥 Day 3 – Girls State Championships 🔥
6 wrestlers competing out of 889 girls—record-setting numbers!

Emery Potter
Peaked at the end of the season and showed improvement in how she wrestles. Results didn’t go our way, but a lot to build on heading into next year.

Amelia Connor
Second trip to state and came out fast with a 9-second pin! 💥
Dropped a close 10-7 match, then bounced back with a quick pin on the wrestle-back side.
Got caught in her final match, ending her tournament early—but continues to improve and compete hard every time out.

Meadow Forsythe
State debut and came ready. Opened with a pin after leading 6-0.
Lost a tough one 11-4, regrouped, and came back with an 8-0 win.

In her third match, built a 9-0 lead, got caught on her back, but fought it off and held on for a 9-7 win.

Finished top 12 in the state—huge accomplishment! 👏

Melydy Potter
First-round bye, then a pin to reach the quarterfinals.
Faced the eventual 3rd-place finisher—down 3-0, nearly secured a fall with an arm bar before losing 7-4.

Bounced back with a 10-1 win, then fell to the eventual 4th-place finisher.
Finished top 12—huge growth this season and a very bright future ahead! ⭐

Lexi Boelter
Opened with a tough double-overtime loss, 6-5.
Came back with a solid 9-4 win.

Third match—another double-overtime battle, but again came up just short.
So close this year—great experience to build on heading into her final youth season!

🔥 Maci Waldow 🔥
Put together an incredible tournament.

Opened with a first-period pin.
Ran into the eventual champion in the quarterfinals.

Responded with a dominant 17-0 tech fall.
Then in the blood round—tied 8-8, goes to overtime—Maci gets the takedown and back points to win 13-8 and guarantee a podium spot.

Follows it up with another strong win by pin to reach the 3rd-place match.

Final match—early 3-0 lead, then down late after giving up back points.
Fights back, earns a stalling point to tie it and send it to overtime…

And in the biggest moment—she digs deep and secures the takedown to take 3rd place in the state! 🥉

🔥 State Wrestling 2026 – Day 2 recap🔥

Day 2 Results

Berkley Pollack
Slow start in his first match, falling behind 14-2 in the 3rd. But Berkley never quit—battled back to 14-8 and, as time expired, had his opponent on his back. One more period and that could’ve been a big swing!

Came back strong with an 18-3 tech fall.
Third match was a battle—tied 6-6 in the 2nd, Berkley escaped late to take the lead, but got turned in the 3rd and lost a close one 10-7.

Picked up a great win and gained valuable experience on the big stage—this kid is only getting better! 💪

Kayden Paschke
Tough day—dropped his first match 10-5 and came up short in the second.

But qualifying for state is a big accomplishment. Falling short can fuel growth, and we know he’ll come back stronger next season! 🔥

Day 1 in the books – State Wrestling 2026

We had three wrestlers compete today: Sawyer Pollack, Myles Connor, and Hunter Kobleska.

Sawyer Pollack came out strong, winning his first match with a technical fall (18-0). He was ready to go, and it showed!
He dropped a tough second-round match, sending him to the consolation side of the bracket. After regrouping, Sawyer got right back on track with a come-from-behind win, 6-5. He followed that up with another victory, scoring a takedown in the final seconds!
He kept the momentum going with a thrilling 12-9 win, breaking a 9-9 tie in the final period with a takedown and ride-out.
His tournament came to an end with a hard-fought 3-0 loss, falling just short of the podium. Nonetheless, big gains were made this year, and there’s a lot to be proud of!

Hunter Kobleska also started the day strong with a controlled 9-0 win. He dropped his second-round match 5-1, giving up a late takedown.
In his third match, Hunter battled hard and found himself ahead late, but a last-second reversal led to a tough 5-4 loss.
Hunt showed he absolutely has what it takes to compete at this level. With a few more things put together, there’s no doubt he’ll be on the podium next year!

Myles Connor opened the day with an 11-2 win, clearly focused on defending his title from last year. He followed that up with a tough 7-4 second-round victory to advance to the semifinals.
No stranger to the big stage, Myles hit his stride with an impressive 19-2 technical fall, punching his ticket to the finals.
In the championship match, he gave up a late takedown in the first period and found himself down 4-0 in the third. He battled back with a 2-point reversal and pushed hard but came up just short, falling 4-2 and finishing as runner-up.
So much to be proud of, and plenty to build on from the weekend!

🔥 DAY 2:
We have 8th grader Kayden Paschke making his final trip to the Alliant Energy Center, and 2nd grader Berkley Pollack making his debut.
Wish them luck as they chase their goals!
