Today is one of the hardest days for me to remember as I lost a very good horse friend this day 2 years ago today. Miss Hottie I miss you and you taught me a lot even after your gone and blue horse is talked about as the best lesson horse BFM ever had. She would have been 19 this year.

Horses may be picking up on human emotions in a way scientists are only beginning to understand.

New research from the University of Tours found that horses reacted differently when exposed to the scent of sweat produced during moments of human fear. Without seeing or hearing a person, the animals behaved more cautiously and showed signs of stress, suggesting they detected emotional cues through smell alone.

Researchers say the findings could help explain why horses sometimes mirror a handler’s anxiety — and why emotional awareness may matter more than we realize when working with animals.
