📣Team Update!!📣
As the end of the spring season quickly approaches, we are excited to share our future plans for the 12U Mavs Blue Team. Beginning this fall, our team will transition to 13U and will join the Blue Angels Fastpitch organization!
This announcement is truly bittersweet as several of our girls began playing softball in Upper Makefield together at the 8U level and have continued through today. These experiences have shaped them, and our team, and will remain at the core of who we are.
We’ve watched our team grow and compete at higher levels season after season. We’ve welcomed new teammates and families through the years from across the area and are grateful for all the Mavs organization has offered us.
Joining the Blue Angels is not intended to change who we are, rather allow us to stay true to our goal of giving our team the opportunity to grow, compete, and thrive as softball players and young women.
We’ve come to recognize that as a team led by a parent-coaching staff, there is a limit to how much more we can offer, and this team is just scratching the surface on what they can achieve.
The Blue Angels organization shares our values, our culture, and our belief in developing strong athletes and even stronger young women, and this transition will allow us to best support our team moving forward.
As part of this transition, we will be welcoming Gianna Anzideo as our new Head Coach. Gianna is a Blue Angels alum, 2022 Archbishop Wood graduate, former varsity captain, and recent Elizabethtown College softball captain and graduate. She brings experience playing at a high level, strong leadership, and a deep understanding of the sport. Her positive and relatable voice will serve our team well in the coming years.
We are also excited to share that Elle Silagy will continue with our team as a student-assistant during her breaks from playing college softball at York College. Elle’s addition to our coaching staff has further solidified our belief in the benefit of incorporating an outside voice to support our team’s development and has resulted in an immediate impact on team performance and culture.
Finally, thank you to Maeve McGill, Jackie Ecker, and the entire Blue Angels organization for your support and encouragement! We are incredibly proud of this team, grateful to every family who has supported our journey, and are excited about what will come next.
This is not the end of the Mavs Blue Team, but rather the next chapter in our journey!
