Wouldn’t it be nice to be outside right now???? Look at that green grass!!!! Blue skies!
Who knows when we will be outside and playing. Kind of does not feel real. Even though it’s not ideal, I feel as though Mother Nature is teaching all of the Minnesota softball players a valuable lesson right now.
Do we have control over this??? NO!!! What do we have control over? What we do with the time we are stuck inside. I have some advice:
To the player: Each day you get to play is a gift! In the gym or outside!!Never waste a rep because even though you’re inside, you never know what will be your last. You may not be able to control the weather but you can always control the effort you put into every practice, every rep, every minute!! Remember your effort at the start of practice may not look the same at the end, but if you give everything you have, YOU’RE GETTING BETTER!!! Coaches: Try your best to switch things up!! We started weight lifting and yoga this year as a part of our practices to mix up our practices. Just because you do not have a ball in your hand does not mean you’re not getting stronger as a team. When you are practicing in the gyms remember to be patient!!! The girls are just as frustrated as you are to not be outside. Creativity is key in times like this!!! It may take a little more effort on your end to find the drills or come up with fun new games, but in the long run the girls will appreciate it.
Control the what you can and your time in the gym will go by so much faster!!!!
