From climbing in the Swiss Alps to bouldering at Ascent, Simona loves how the sport keeps challenging her in new ways and gives her something new to learn. Setting up the squat rack? A few things to check before you get started.

J-hooks should face you and sit just below shoulder height, safeties should be set up before you start, and always use clips or collars on your weights. Questions? Come find us at the front desk, or flag down Julie if you see her around.

A day to honor hard work and rest — something we think applies just as much to our incredible staff as anyone. Enjoy the long weekend!

You will find us out in the community for New Haven Road Race — stop by the New Haven Green from 7am–12pm and say hi. We’ll have free passes, raffles and other prizes for runners and the folks who cheered them on.

Got gear you don't use? Someone else probably wants it.

Join us for the Ascent Gear Market: Sell & Swap on Monday, September 21 from 6:30 to 8:30pm. Bring your lightly used outdoor or sports gear to sell or trade, then shop what everyone else brought.

Free and open to the public. Ascent Outdoors guides will be around to talk all things outside, plus free b**r for 21+, N/A options, and seltzer.

Leave No Trace, understanding parking, dogs, tick marks, and unsolicited beta, there’s a little more to consider than just getting to the top. Need a crash pad? We’ve got those at the front desk for sale or rental, too.
