The New Year's Day Shoot will be a 50 shot standing match at 200 yards. Registration will begin at 0800hrs. The cost is $20, juniors shoot for free.Bring any rifle, hunting, service or match. There will be a lunch break after the first 25 shots.If the weather is an issue,we'll made a decision to continue or not. We have operational pits, and hope to offer electronic targets but be prepared to do your part. Use your phone, laptop or a tablet to view your shots. Dress warm. SAFE Fi****ms Training, LLC has a few spaces left in THIS WEEKEND'S class!! Get your Maryland Handgun Permit before they raise the application fees!! Class is held in New Freedom, PA from 9a to 5p. To apply for the MD permit, you must take 16-hours of training. To make it easier, we separate our classes into 2 individual classes. If you can only make it on Saturday, take Day 1 now and then take Day 2 in the future!!

We charge $199 for the Day 1 class (Sat. Apr 22) and $179 for the Day 2 class (Sun. Apr 23). For $378, after SFTs course, you'll be able to apply for permits in MD, PA, FL, VA, NH, WV and get your MD HQL, all without additional tuition fees.

There will be a lunch break after the first 25 shots. A warm lunch will be available for a donation. If the weather is too bad a decision will be made to continue or not.

What an amazing 3-day run of classes!! 8 students completed Day 2 CCW on Friday and then a Saturday/Sunday 2-day CCW course with 17 students!! Congratulations on taking the first step toward your MD handgun permit!! Sam Dutterer did a fantastic job of teaching and running the range. Couldn’t do it without him.

SUSPENSION OF “GOOD AND SUBSTANTIAL REASON” STANDARD FOR MD WEAR & CARRY PERMITS

Governor Hogan Directs Maryland State Police to Suspend ‘Good and Substantial Reason’ Standard For Wear and Carry Permits Action Pursuant to Supreme Court Ruling Striking Down Similar Provision in New York Law

ANNAPOLIS, MD—Governor Larry Hogan today issued the following statement:
“Over the course of my administration, I have consistently supported the right of law-abiding citizens to own and carry fi****ms, while enacting responsible and common sense measures to keep guns out of the hands of criminals and the mentally ill.
“Last month, the U.S. Supreme Court struck down a provision in New York law pertaining to handgun permitting that is virtually indistinguishable from Maryland law. In light of the ruling and to ensure compliance with the Constitution, I am directing the Maryland State Police to immediately suspend utilization of the ‘good and substantial reason’ standard when reviewing applications for Wear and Carry Permits. It would be unconstitutional to continue enforcing this provision in state law. There is no impact on other permitting requirements and protocols. “Today’s action is in line with actions taken by other states in response to the recent ruling.”

The Maryland State Police Licensing Division is in the process of updating the Licensing Portal to reflect these changes. Until these updates are complete, applicants submitting a Wear and Carry Permit application are directed to select “Personal Protection / Category Not Listed Above” as their “Handgun Permit Category”. Applicants are not required to attach documents to the “PERSONAL PROTECTION DOCUMENTATION” section on the “Upload Documents” page of the Wear and Carry Permit application.
