I never advocate for swim masks or any google like gear that covers the nose.

1. It only gives you and your child a false sense of comfort. A swimmer is not truly comfortable unless they can submerge their body underwater with a bare face.
2. Swim masks prevent one of the most fundamental concepts of swimming, proper breath control.
3. In the event of malfunction, such as leaks, there are few signs of error. If supervision is anything less than highly trained you probably won’t recognize what is wrong and a child’s instinct to panic will only make matters worse by quickly inhaling water.

Swim masks are not toys and if not fitted or used properly, they can be extremely dangerous.
