When you defend unsafe behavior are you part of the problem?

I was talking with a friend that was filling in for the range officer that normally runs things at another club (a club we do not use BTW) He was running a shoot and addressed a safety issue in the club house. He stopped what I believe could have been a serious issue. A director of that club that was there at that time, instead of telling him good job, asked why he stopped them from doing what they were doing. The good old boy attitude of letting things go because you want to be Everyone’s friend is one reason why YouTube has so many videos

We tell the juniors and adults in our program “if you see something you think is unsafe speak up” we will never second guess you. safety is everyone’s responsibility. No one wants to be the person telling people they are wrong but if you ignore safety, you cannot have a safe sport. We are here to educate not punish.

When its easy people may do the right thing

Our first safety class of the year went well. About 30 of all ages turned out. We had kids and adults wanting to learn how to shoot safely. We will be covering handguns and semi auto fi****ms next week.
I would like to thank bill for his hard work on the class and the good job he did

JUNIOR RIFLE CLUB
January 2026 Newsletter
Another year has passed looking forward to 2026. It was a rough year with the loss of the indoor range. We did our best to work out an agreement with DSPC but the current leadership does not want us there. “They said we do not cover the cost of the utilities”. Brandywine is happy to host us and we thank them for their support of youth programs.
When the weather warms, we will start shooting again. till then we plan to do some classes on several subjects. basic firearm will be the first. We will cover rifle, handgun, shotgun muzzle loader etc. other classes will include shooting positions, Firearm cleaning, maintenance and storage, shotgun. Let us know what you are interested in and we will see what we can do. watch the schedule for dates. We will be using Brandywines heated clubhouse. no charge for these classes. Feel free to bring a friend.

Things to work on:

Having fun on the range.

Remember shooting is about being consistent.
sight picture, breathing, follow through, attitude, etc. are all important things to remember

Ask yourself, "What does it take to make a good shot?"
Sight picture, position, breathing, etc..
Remember the basics: position, natural point, focus on the front sight, trigger pull, follow through.

Practice Practice Practice

remember focus on the front sight
check your natural point
concentrate on every shot
don't rush your shots

Find time to shoot.
Funny thing about life…if you practice you will get better at it.

Remember to think about this shot, not the last one, not the next one.

Remember we are here to help you become better shooters. Let us help.

Reminder if you have any pictures or videos you would like to post, just email them to me as an attachment .jpg file etc. No faces or names please.

For new shooters, the first Saturday is free

I would like to thank everyone for the time they put in, on and off the range. There is a lot to do, and they help to make Saturdays run like a smooth operation.

We still have a few t shirts for sale for $18.00.
