Saturday night results from the 20th Carol Smith Memorial at US 24 Speedway

A great pill draw (not, well maybe…) put us 8th in Heat 3.

We were able to run from 8th from 4th passing more cars that anyone from all 3 Heats, which put us starting 4th in A Main. (Picture: Passing Work)

Was competitive in A main, finishing 6th after settling into 5 on the restart, then got passed at the line by .008.

We were racy.
Colby is getting better.
All the drivers are.
So competitive.
The Future is bright.

We will be taking the upcoming weekend off. Instead will be doing some reading of this Classic hard to find book just got in the mail (from basement of Smithsonian I think). We will see how much applies to today’s cars.

Colby Hoggard drove the to a 5th Place Finish Friday night at Miami County Raceway.

📈 Heat Race: 8th ➜ 7th (+1)
📈 A-Main: 13th ➜ 5th (+8)

Really cool experience today for HMS 5H driver Colby Hoggard. Since near Wi******er Speedway, Colby decided to drop in and check out the historic Wi******er Speedway.

Built in 1914 and known to be the “worlds fastest 1/2 mile”, this is hollowed ground for many big name in racing history. Check out this weekends event, the USAC Silver Crown Series- Rich Vogler Classic

In October, go out and see the historic 55th running of the Wi******er 400. Past winners include Mark Martin, Kyle Busch & Carson Hocevar

Colby was able to walk the facility and got a great on track car tour around the high banks. Can imagine 140 mph in a silver crown car entering these turns. As I am told, you either love or hate this place. Thanks so much to General Manager, Dan Redmond for being a gracious host and encouraging words for Colby and his future racing career. Maybe someday Colby will get his chance here.

It’s so important young drivers know the history of local racing.
