𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀 𝐅𝐚𝐭 𝐋𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐏𝐡𝐚𝐬𝐞...𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐃𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐈𝐭 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞?

I get this question a lot from clients when we start a fat loss phase or from people inquiring about coaching.

“Coach JB, do I need to lift lighter and do more reps?”

I tell them that nothing really needs to change as far as exercise selection and intensity goes.

The goal and objective for a fat loss phase needs to be to maintain as much muscle as you have while dieting down. 𝗪𝐞 𝐝𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬:

1️⃣ Diet slowly
2️⃣Keep protein high
3️⃣Resistance train with intensity

It’s important that we continue to try to lift as hard as we can while trying to lose weight. As we start getting to lower body fat levels our body will naturally try to pull from our body’s store reserves. Through intense resistance training, we are activating the muscle as much as possible which signals our body that we want to retain it.

The biggest saboteur of successful fat loss is that people lower their calories and increase their cardio, but they don’t focus on intense weight training. This is a mistake.
