Happy Friday New Braunfels! It is going to be a hot one this weekend with highs near 99 and heat index values up to 108. The Comal River is exactly where you want to be and we are ready for you!

Here is your weekend outlook.

Friday: Clearing up through the morning, sunny and hot, high near 99. Great afternoon on the river once it opens up.
Saturday: Sunny and hot, high near 99. Small 20% chance of storms after 1pm so get here early and you will be well on your way before any of that shows up.
Sunday: Mostly sunny, high near 99. Looking like a clean float day from start to finish.

Before you head out this weekend a few things to keep in mind:

The can ban is in effect. No disposable containers, cans, plastic bottles, chip bags, or food wrappers on the river. Repack everything into reusable containers before you arrive.

No double tubes. City ordinance limits tubes to 5 feet in diameter or less.

Coolers must be 30qt or smaller with a locking lid. We recommend a soft sided zippered cooler.

Sirius came out to show his support even if he had no interest in actually floating. Not all dogs are water dogs and that is perfectly ok, the tube still looks good on him! 🐶

Meet Puppy!

This little beagle has floated the Comal River twice now and clearly has no complaints about it. Life jacket on and ready to go, Puppy knows what's up.

We love seeing dogs out on the river! Just remember to keep them safe, walk your pup around the Tube Chute and always bring a dog life jacket

Beautiful day on the Comal ahead. Before you head out here are the three things that trip people up most and how to avoid them:
1. The Disposable Container Ban. No cans, plastic bottles, glass, chip bags, candy wrappers, or any disposable food packaging on the river. Repack all your food and drinks into reusable containers before you arrive. This includes snacks, not just drinks!
2. No Double Tubes. The city limits tubes to 5 feet in diameter or less. Double tubes will be turned away at the gate. Single tubes only.
3. Cooler Size. Coolers must be 30qt or smaller with a locking lid. We recommend a soft sided zippered cooler since it conforms better to the odd shapes of reusable containers and rides easier in a tube.

We have a fun piece of Landa River Trips history to share today!

The first photo is the only known photo of the original Convertabus, taken in the late 1980s. The second is our recreation of that same bus, built as part of our 40th anniversary celebration and in memory of the man who created the original.

Landa River Trips has been on the Comal River since 1986 and the Convertabus is one of those things that has always been part of who we are. We felt it was worth bringing back.

Right now the bus operates on our 8 acre riverfront property at the start of the Comal River, shuttling guests around the grounds. A fresh coat of paint and a fancy new roll bar are coming soon so keep an eye out for it on the street! In the meantime come get your picture taken with it when you visit.

Happy Friday! We have been keeping a close eye on Tropical Storm Bertha this week and we are happy to report it will have no negative effect on tubing this weekend. In fact the opposite is true.

The Comal River is currently flowing at 223 CFS and the rain we received earlier this week has the river in outstanding shape. To put that in perspective, normal flow on the Comal runs in the low 300s, so we are sitting at a really healthy level right now. Float times are coming in under 3 hours and the water is clearing up beautifully.

Honestly this is shaping up to be one of the best weekends for tubing on the Comal in a long time. The chance of rain we had earlier in the forecast is gone and we are looking at a sunny weekend from Friday through Sunday.

Come out and enjoy it. Weekends like this do not come around often!

Great news! The Comal River is open and we will be running normal hours tomorrow. The river is already clearing up nicely as you can see in this photo taken earlier today at the falls. The spring water is doing its thing and flushing the river back to its beautiful self. It will take a little more time to fully clear but you can absolutely come out and float.
