Tough cats right there…
In 2001, Drew Opfer of Sandusky St. Mary Central Catholic cemented his place in Ohio wrestling history.
That year, after capturing his third state title, he became the state’s all-time career wins leader with 217 victories, surpassing the previous mark of 211 set by his brother Jared just two years earlier.
Along the way, Drew piled up 928 career takedowns, ranking second all-time in Ohio, and earned recognition as a USA Wrestling High School All-American.
He went on to wrestle at Kent State, where he became an NCAA qualifier at 125 pounds in 2004.
Drew Opfer’s accomplishments remain a benchmark of excellence, securing his legacy as one of the most decorated wrestlers in Ohio high school history.
