We had to share this experience that happened today with one of our members. - Ann Lewis Linda Groff and Groff here at Carolina Colours. It’s more than golf - always!
I want to tell you all a story about something that happened today on the golf course here at Carolina Colours.
Linda and Rich Groff had a tee time this morning.
I asked Linda if they would mind if I played with them; I didn’t want to keep score, but simply be able to practice my shots. She was most gracious to say yes, even though she probably knew this might come with some lag time & angst.
This morning we learned a fellow had signed up with us. He was a 30 something active marine who is a beginner like I am. They both welcomed him to the game with open arms.
Rich spent a great deal of the time giving him tips, advice and encouragement, always finding something positive to say, even though the guy was having a pretty rough round.
The young man told me after our round how much it had meant to him. He said he was very nervous, and almost didn’t come because he wasn’t sure what he was going to find. He said “ everything he told me to do worked perfectly!”.
He is leaving in seven days and will be gone for two years until he retires. He said the experience today clinched his decision to move back to this area when he leaves the Marines. “ you can’t find nicer people, the golf course is wonderful, there’s nowhere I’d rather join!”
This probably isn’t a surprise to any of you, and it wasn’t really a surprise to me. What I have learned in my first year of living here is that the example set this morning by Linda and Rich is simply Carolina Colours in a nutshell - full of warm, kind, encouraging & fun individuals who are ALWAYS ready to lend a hand.
Thank you to Linda & Rich; you made a hugely positive impact on our young golf partner, even though it would’ve been much easier for you to just play your own game.
Thank you to everyone else for being the people you are; I am so grateful to live here.
