🥊WHY YOU STRUGGLE WITH CONSISTENCY AS A HITTER🥊

As you make your forward move, you HAVE to get a good scap load.👇

Here’s why it matters:

A good scap load places your hand INSIDE your back elbow. From there, you can turn and rotate on the inside part of the baseball.

Land with your hand OUTSIDE your back glove, and you’re down before you even start. ❌

You can no longer work inside the ball, so you swing ACROSS the zone instead of through it:
❌ Slicing the ball
❌ Rolling over
❌ Losing direction

Hand inside the elbow = you can work through it. ✅
Hand outside the elbow = you can’t. ❌

🤯THE ONE CUE THAT FUXES YOUR BAT PATH🤯

Here’s a simple way to think about your swing:

Your LEAD HAND is your steering wheel👇

If you don’t steer it correctly, your barrel isn’t going to work straight. It won’t work forward. It’ll work in and out, across the zone.

Here’s the cue:

Think about wearing a watch on your lead hand.

Show the watch to the OPPOSITE DUGOUT as you swing.

That’s it. That one thought keeps your barrel in and through the zone longer.

Simple cue. Real carryover.

🎯 WHEN THE FUN GOES, IT’S OVER. 🎯

You have to really ENJOY playing. You have to WANT to compete, to win.

When guys get burnt out, it’s not fun anymore.

And when the fun goes... it’s over.

No swing, no drill, no amount of training fixes that. This game is supposed to be fun — protect that. 🔥

Should you finish with one hand or two? 🤔⚾️

There isn’t one right answer.

Great hitters do both. For many players, it’s simply a matter of style. ✅

But if you finish with one hand, be aware of the tendency to let the back shoulder stop rotating as the top hand releases, leading to early rollovers and weak contact. ❌

A two-hand finish encourages the back shoulder to keep rotating through the hitting zone, helping the barrel stay through the baseball. 🔑

In games? Finish however your swing naturally finishes.

In training? Finish with two hands.

It reinforces complete rotation, better barrel direction, and gives you more honest feedback on the quality of your swing. 💥📈

⚠️ IS YOUR BAT PATH OFF? START HERE. ⚠️

Most hitters try to fix bat path problems... with more bat path drills.

But here’s the thing — the root cause is usually somewhere else. 👇

When you LAND, you need to be BALANCED. That’s what allows everything to start rotating forward.

If you don’t land correctly, your upper half doesn’t have the SPACE or DIRECTION to work through the ball effectively — no matter how many swings you take.

Bottom line: if your bat path is off, don’t just fix the symptom.

ADDRESS THE ROOT CAUSE. 🎯

💥 WANT TO HIT THE BALL HARD THE OTHER WAY? 💥

Give the BOSU BALL DRILL a try. 👇

Here’s what it forces you to do:

✅ Drive your back hip DOWN and THROUGH the inside part of the ball
✅ Stay connected with your back shoulder AND back hip
✅ Keep everything working on the inside of the baseball — not around it

The result? The exact power and direction you need to drive the ball hard the other way. 🔥

Simple drill. Real carryover. 🎯

🎯 YOUR BARREL DOESN’T LIE 🎯

This one’s simple, but it’s EVERYTHING. 👇

When you land, your k**b needs to point toward the catcher. That’s how you know you’re ON THE TRACK. ✅

From there, all you have to do is rotate:
1️⃣ Back hip
2️⃣ Back shoulder

Do that, and your barrel has NO OTHER CHOICE but to stay on the inside part of the baseball. 🔥

It’s not complicated. But it has to start in the right position — because if you don’t start right, you’re not gonna finish right.

🔥 TRAINING WITH NEW YORK METS CATCHER TOMAS NIDO 🔥

Here’s what stands out in his swing. 👇

1️⃣ LANDS WITH THE K**B ON TRACK
Sets up a strong, direct path to the baseball right from the start.

2️⃣ STAYS CONNECTED
Not pushing the hands away early — keeping everything working together through the zone.

3️⃣ MONEY GAP 💰
Working the barrel FORWARD through the baseball.

Pro or 12U — the checkpoints don’t change. 🎯

🔥 BEFORE & AFTER: +8 MPH EXIT VELO 🔥

Same hitter. Two completely different results. Here’s what changed. 👇

BEFORE:
❌ Swaying hips back in a negative move
❌ Not staying back — losing his base

AFTER:
✅ Strong base, engaging the legs
✅ Staying back and loading properly

BEFORE:
❌ Barrel working ACROSS the ball

AFTER:
✅ MONEY GAP 💰 — barrel working FORWARD through the ball

Just like Bobby Witt Jr. — using his lower half and creating direction through the zone instead of around it. 🎯

+8 MPH isn’t luck. It’s mechanics. 🔥

We started working with Caleb Durbin on May 26th, and what a journey it’s been!

We were in Boston last week, continuing to work on staying inside the baseball, letting it travel, and using his legs efficiently.

Caleb has taken the work we’ve done in the cage and continued training those same feels on deck and during pregame—and the results have transferred: two grand slams and a walk-off in the last few days!

Teach. Train. Transfer.

Great work, Durbin! 💪🔥

Louis Prieto, a longtime Gradum athlete has been absolutely crushing it on the field.

After an outstanding freshman season, Louis was named on the MaxPreps Underclass All-American team batting .440 with 4 home runs. Keep working, Louis!

Denzel Del Valle, Alabama State signee heading into his freshman year, absolutely turned on this baseball and launched a grand slam over the right-center field wall🚀

Caleb got his pitch and didn’t miss it, turning on it for a bomb over the left-field wall at the Marlins/Cardinals Complex at a South Florida summer ball tournament💣

Great pickup by Harold Reynolds and MLB Network on one of the adjustments we made to Caleb Durbin’s swing.

The concept is absolutely correct. Where we differ is in the explanation of why it works and how it’s taught.

Here are a few videos breaking down the lead-hand adjustment, why it works, and how we teach it, train it, and transfer it from the cage to game performance.
