The NHRA Bracket Finals are coming, and we’re going BIG with our Red, White & Blue “Making Racing Great Again” theme! 🇺🇸❤️🤍💙

We want to turn the pits and team area into a patriotic racing party, and we need our team to help make it happen!

We’re looking for anyone who would like to contribute decorations, props, signs, flags, banners, lights, or anything red, white & blue to help bring the theme to life!

The Sherwin Williams Paints points series for the 2026 season finished on Sunday, August 30th. There were 10 points days completed, with tight chases in all but one class, and these are the class champions. Congratulations to all!

RJ's Heating & Cooling Junior Dragsters:

In the 7-12 year old class, Elyjah Clay moved to an 8.90 set up, and he took to it like a duck to water. He held off newcomer Alyssa Casini, in her first full season in a junior, and Mason Romeo. Elyjah finished the season strong, winning the last 2 points days, in addition to 2 wins earlier in the season.

In the 13-17 year old class, Nathan Grill came into the weekend with a 1 point lead over Nathan Benish and 3 over Brantley Young and Leeya Lear. Nathan Benish lost first round, Nathan Grill went to the semifinals, and Brantley runner upped Saturday to make things even tighter going into Sunday, now trailing Nathan Grill by 2 points. Nathan Benish lost first round, Nathan Grill lost second round, and Brantley Young lost third round, and that sealed the championship for Nathan Grill, by 1 point. He had come close numerous times, and gets the long sought after championship in his last year in a junior before stepping up to a big dragster in Super Pro.

Dragonfire Tool Storage and The Lobster Shack Motorcycle class:

Jim Hensell has been a successful rider in the class in past years, picking up wins on occasion, but had never joined the points series until this season. He had an incredible performance on his 2021 Honda Rebel 1100: 6 wins, 3 in a row to finish the season, and the most points in any of the classes in 2026!

Sportsman class:

Bryan Dees and Jen Whalen came into the season tied for first place on Saturday, and finished Saturday with that tie while the bump spot for bracket finals tightened up. On Sunday, Amy Romeo went on to win and finish in third place, moving up from 5th coming into the weekend 3 points out of first. Jen Whalen lost in the second round, while Bryan and his 2016 Camaro went on and became a first time champion, marking the fourth class this season with a new champ!
All Star Homes Pro class:

Clyde Jeffries came into the weekend in first place, but a pair of first rounds losses dropped him into a tie for 5th place with Ed Matis, who won 1 round in the 2 events. Maicy Stewart used a win Saturday to break out of the log jam past 7th place and finish 4th. Mark Brewer went rounds both days to hold in his position in 3rd place. Nick Schade used rounds Saturday and a win on Sunday to shoot up to second place. Nick Bowman used rounds each day to move from a tie for third place to take over the top spot in his 1970 Plymouth Duster by 2 points, his 4th championship!

Precision Engine & Dyno Super Pro class:
Mark Brewer and Tom Scott ended up in a tie for 6th place. Don Kohlmeyer Jr moved up a spot in his 1969 AMX to 4th, while Matt Brehm's win in his dragster Sunday pushed him up to 3rd place. Ryan Henry and his gorgeous '55 Chevy wagon came into the weekend tied with Josh Rietscha and his dragster, trailing by 1 point. Both lost Saturday in the first round, maintaining that 1 point difference going into Sunday. Both lost in the first round again, making Josh the champ for the second year in a row, and his 7th overall!

Congratulations to our 2026 NHRA North Central Division 3 bracket finals team. The team will be traveling to Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, OH next week to compete for the team championship!

Great day for racing, the last day of points in the Sherwin Williams Paints series. Jim Hensell was the first to seal a championship, in the Bike class, and the rest of the classes were settled today.

RJ's Heating and Cooling Junior Dragsters 7-12 year olds:

W - Elyjah Clay, 8.96 dial in, .1028 reaction time, 9.0258 elapsed time, 72.56mph
R/U - Mason Romeo, 9.62 dial in, .0979 reaction time, 9.7206 elapsed time, 63.94mph
Elyjah seals his championship with a win! Mason hurt the clutch on his car, and makes it to the final after hopping into a borrowed ride.

RJ's Heating and Cooling Junior Dragsters 13-17 year olds:
W - Nathan Benish, 7.97 dial in, .0473 RT, 8.0078 ET, 79.45mph
R/U - Brey Dudley, 8.00 dial in, .0456 RT, 7.9907 ET, 78.84mph
Virtually even on the Christmas tree, and it's a pedal fest at the finish line, Nathan goes for the brakes to feed a chunk of the .050 that Brey takes, and the strategy works, Brey dips under by .0093.

R/U - Alyssa Casini, 8.95 dial in, -.0102 reaction time, 9.0021 elapsed time, 70.38mph
Number 1 and number 2 in points meet in the final, after both losing first round and working through the buybacks. Elyjah gets the win when Alyssa is red, and maintains his 3 point lead heading into the last points day tomorrow.

RJ's Heating and Cooling Junior Dragsters 13-17 year olds:
W - Roman Balaska, 7.95 dial in, .0350 RT, 7.9516 ET, 82.61mph
R/U - Brantley Young, 8.01 dial in, .0292 RT, 8.0040 ET, 81.05mph
Great race! Separated by just .0058 in reaction time, Brantley crosses first by .013 but breaks out by .006, Roman putting it right on the dial with a 1 for the win.

Good to see Tom back at the track in the cool, clean Ventura. He gets away with being a little late, picking up the win when Ed is just three ten thousandths of a second too soon.

Tom makes the most of his time back at Keystone, landing in the final of Pro after the Sportsman win. He has the starting line advantage, but takes a little too much brake, killing 2 mph and letting Maicy slip past by .006.

Good morning everyone. Today is the last day of points. Remember if you leave before any potential runoff you may be in you will forfeit your position. We also will finalize the NHRA bracket finals roster at the end of the day. If you leave before letting us know that you want to go, you will forfeit your spot on the team & we will move down the line.
Also all racers who are attending the bracket finals must have a NHRA membership license.

DeAnna finished the points last night after the race & they’re in the Gearheads Giftshop on the bulletin board. Steve will also be announcing them this morning.

It’s gonna be a great day of racing!!
