Classes offered:
Kurama Yoshin Ryu Jiutaijutsu
(Empty hand)
Kurama/Jigen Ryu Kenjutsu
(Sword/Blade Arts)
Jiū-tai-jutsu (empty hand):
Classes will consist of the physiology and anatomy of the human body, break falls, nerve strikes, joint locks/joint manipulation, restraints, throws, submissions, and chokes.
You will learn Japanese language courses as classes are taught in English/Japanese vocabulary, including the history of Samurai culture.
Kenjutsu (sword fencing):
Classes will consist of history/techniques of fighting with the long and short swords of Japan, you will learn the fundamental cuts, strikes, blocks, parries, against another swordsman and other weaponry such as the Japanese halberd (yari).
2-hour classes held once a week (Tuition is for a 4-week session)
Tuesday evenings
Jiu-tai-jitsu (empty hand) Ages 15-18 $65.00
Adults 19 and up $75.00
Wednesday evenings
Kenjutsu (sword fencing) Ages 15 to Adult $65.00

Hamm Sensei was a student of the late J. Mayo ,USMC, teacher of the Matsukata family buke tradition from Kagoshima Japan. Hamm Sensei obtained Menkyo (Japanese licensing) in the respective art in the 90’s after almost a decade of intense personal study under Hanshi Mayo. Hamm Sensei’s life experience includes history of prior Law Enforcement with a degree in Criminal Justice.
