The Upper Peninsula Luge Club Sliding at Lucy Hill is the most affordable winter sport you'll find in the Upper Peninsula! Public slide hours: Saturdays 10-12 and 1-3

NATURBAHN LUGE:

You've seen luge sleds rocketing down ice-glazed tubes during the Winter Olympics--that's Kunstbahn (or Artificial Track) luge. Naturbahn (or Natural Track) luge is even more exciting because the track winds down a natural, unrefrigerated hill, bordered by boards and snow banks. A Naturbahn luge sled is similar to an old-fashioned wooden sled with metal runners. Naturbahn athletes

steer the sled with their feet, hands, and bodies. They use their bodies to speed up, slow down, and steer the sled around the corners of the icy track. Naturbahn luge is a unique sport, and exciting for athletes and spectators. The Lucy Hill Natural Luge Track is the only one of it's kind in the whole United States!

The Luge community has lost an amazing woman. A kind soul. A dynamic personality. A go getter. A person who made a difference everywhere she turned. She gave selflessly, volunteering for her passions, including driving from her home in New York State to the UP Luge club to assist with trainings and races several times over the years. She will be greatly missed. ❤️😔

A big shoutout and !Thank You! from the Upper Peninsula Luge Club to Northbound Post Co., operated by NMU students Kaylie McIntosh, Sage Brewer, Katie Rupright, and Sydney VanPopering in Dr. Cori Bodeman’s Introduction to Entrepreneurship (management 215).

These scholars have donated their profits to the tune of $500 to the UPLC! It was exciting to hear about their learnings AND the plan to continue their business after the class ends.

A business class that has multiple groups develop and implement a plan is a great idea and to top it off with the profits going to multiple local non-profits is the “icing” 😁on the cake!

While the luge season wrapped up at the Lucy Hill in early March, the momentum didn’t stop there.

Alexis Dahl joined us in January and pulled together this awesome video—capturing the spirit of the season!
