NNYC Sailors,
Please read for updates following the violent storm on Monday.
The harbor was lucky to avoid a direct hit, and therefore suffered only isolated damage.
The moorings have been dragged to give boats appropriate swing space, but they are far from perfect form. This will be an ongoing project to get things back into normal positions. If you have issues with your mooring, please contact [email protected]
There are also some bumper boards which have come detached from the seawall. Please use fenders as you dock in these areas.
A huge thanks goes out to everyone who was able to respond and help with stabilization efforts! This is truly what makes our community great.
2 of the rowing dinghies have critical leaks and were removed from service. They are still onshore near the rack, but the oars have been removed. Please do not return them to the water. One in-service dinghy has a bashed seat, but is otherwise functional, leaving a total of 3. Please be courteous and allow extra time as we prep a backup boat for service.
At this time, we intend to restart weekday racing next week 8/4 on the regular schedule. The social committee is working on a rescheduled gathering, at the Whiting Boat House, following the racing.
Please be watchful for debris in the harbor and the lake. Please do not travel the Menasha channel unless necessary. To my knowledge the Racine Street bridge does not have power to operate the movable portion yet.
