A weekend to recap!

Who to start with…
It was a divide and conquer, Keith took Carson racing and Buffy went to watch Tyler after a month of not seeing him.

Carson was racing in Coles County for the 4th annual Jim Hooper Memorial race. He waited until Sunday to win but it was a big one, his 100th win! He has won some great races. Thinking back to his very first at Byron Dragway, there are so many great memories between!!

Tyler was off in Bowling Green Kentucky, racing in his first national event. He made it to the finals in Super Street, and with the starting line advantage, he just couldn’t quite get the last win light to come on after being pushed under in a double breakout.
Tyler was also able to make his first full quarter mile pass in the top dragster for a new best fast time, 6.88 at 195 mph.

Tyler’s back home after his solo month adventure with Luke Bogacki Motorsports. Heading to Byron Dragway next and a few more great races yet this year. Hoping to finish strong 💪

Weekend recap!!!

For several years I’ve been telling anyone who will listen that the Wied brothers are incredible: they’ll be household names in our sport. Tyler definitely had his talent on display last weekend behind the wheel of the Moser Engineering Vega.

The highlight of our weekend was his Pro victory yesterday at World Wide Technology Raceway, after a great final round with Tommy Barbero. In total, Tyler’s weekend was far more impressive than the single victory. Between Beacon Dragway Friday night & St Louis, he entered 6 categories (3 box & 3 No Box). In addition to the win, he logged three semi final finishes, and one quarterfinal loss. His “worst” showing was a 5th round exit in Super Pro Saturday night with 9 cars remaining. The kid is special-it’s fun to watch.

And that’s good, because someone had to carry the flag for our camp!

Jack, Jess, and myself each went 0-for the weekend… Jack’s car continues to give me fits-he had no chance. Jessica made nice runs, just had two “coin flip” finish line decisions & chose wrong both times.

Our Top Dragster project continues to make strides; we’ve got a real competitive race car (& fast-I had a hard time slowing it down to run “Super Quick”)-but the driver was not so good this week! In This Is Bracket Racing Jr., we try to simplify our complex game. I tell the kids all the time, “either get there first by a little… or get there last by a lot.” Well, this weekend I decided to get there last by a little twice-and I can confirm it’s not a great strategy!

The only Bogacki that did anything of note this week was Gary; he advanced to the semi-final round Saturday night (which was actually 2:30 Sunday morning).

Super short turnaround this week as Jess & Tyler will set sail for Beech Bend Raceway Park tomorrow. They’ll run the divisional, and then the boys and I will join them Friday after school for the Sports Nationals!

Race Weekend Recap:
Friday Tyler lost fourth round with a .004 reaction to his opponents .003 total (.001 reaction and dead .002). He did earn himself beat losing package which was a set of roller rockers from Harland sharp!

Saturday Tyler was locked in! With an average .008 reaction time and only .006 spread through the first 5 rounds off the bottom, he was rolling. Round 6 with 13 racers left, he had his worst light of the weekend (.024) His opponent made a great lap after they were .005 and ended his day.

Sunday he made it through round one when Mother Nature took over and the rain came.

He had tons of fun, thrashed a little between rounds and couldn’t have done it without Matt Dadas taking him in for the weekend!

Thank you Luke Bogacki Motorsports for trusting him to take the Vega and have fun.
And to everyone who helped him thrash throughout the weekend, THANK YOU! Tyler is incredibly lucky to have so many people willing to help him chase this crazy racing dream. 🏁❤️

We’re incredibly proud to see Carson recognized by Drag Champ as the #1 racer in this week’s Top 10 after an amazing week at the Eastern Conference Finals.

What makes us the proudest isn’t the ranking, it’s the way he’s been growing as a racer. At just 13 years old, he’s been managing his race strategy each round, and driving the finish line with a great level of discipline.

ECF isn’t easy. Nearly 600 competitors, no buybacks, and with limited time runs, racers went straight into first round off the trailer the next morning. Carson did not have the best car, it wasn’t the most consistent, varying around .12 during the week there, but he had a great understanding of where it would be and trusted his game plan. Now if his reaction times come around, look out!

The final round didn’t end with the win light we were hoping for. He came up just .002 seconds short of the Eastern Conference Championship. But what stood out most was his reaction. He walked away smiling, and never got down on himself.

The character, maturity, and sportsmanship he continues to show are what make us the proudest. Congratulations, Carson, on an incredible week, and thank you to Drag Champ for the recognition.

Carson Wied captured a win and runner-up at the NHRA Eastern Conference Finals to lead the DragChamp Jr. Racer Top 10 List, presented by Laris Motorsports Insurance.

🚨NOW IS THE TIME! We’ve had a lot of people ask us over the years how the boys have become so consistent and successful in bracket racing. While they’ve put in countless hours of practice, one thing that has made a tremendous difference for our family is This Is Bracket Racing Jr.

They’ve learned race strategy, mental toughness, confidence, decision-making, and how to handle both the wins and the losses. Just as importantly, it has helped us as parents learn how to better support them and become better crew chiefs.

No program can replace hard work, but having access to this kind of knowledge and coaching has absolutely accelerated their learning and played a huge role in where they are today.

If your family has considered or thought about joining, I genuinely recommend taking a look at This Is Bracket Racing Jr. We’re thankful for everything we’ve learned and wanted to share it because it’s been such a positive part of our racing journey.
