Knight star Meyer selected for NCA All Star Basketball Game

Lourdes senior and star basketball player Aspen Meyer has been selected to compete at the 43rd Nebraska Coaches Association All Star Girls’ Basketball Game on Monday, July 24, 2023, at 6 p.m. at Lincoln Northstar High School.
The NCA All Star Game will feature top players in Nebraska girls’ high school basketball across all classes.
The team’s will be divided into Blue and Red Teams. Luke Santo of Falls City Sacred Heart and Ryan Psota of Lincoln Pius X are the head and assistant coaches for the Red Team. Noah Maulsby of Ravenna and former Lourdes coach Clayton Carlton of Yutan are the head and assistant coaches for the Blue Team.
The following players are joining Meyer on the all star roster: Emma Brown, Malcolm; Sage Burbach, Norris; Brinly Christensen, Lincoln Southwest; Sydney Davis, Centura; Samantha Ehlers, Ponca; Kaitlyn Emanuel, North Bend Central; Rachel Goodon, Adams Central; Olivia Hansen, Maywood Hayes Center; Tonja Heirigs, North Platte St. Pats; Libby Hoffman, Millard West; Brooklyn Kruse, Wayne; Sammy Leu, Wahoo; Adison Markowski, Lincoln Pius X; Bryn McNair, Chase County; Morgan Moeller, Pierce; Makenna Noecker, Hartington Cedar Catholic; Maddy Province, Kearney; Reese Riddle, Sidney; Tatum Rusher, Kearney; Kynlee Strauser, Gothenburg; Grace Thompson, Elkhorn North; Jessica Wertenberger, Falls City Sacred Heart; and MaKenna Willis, Shelton.

Rico claims distance gold at Syracuse meet

Nebraska City track competed at the annual Scott Nisely Invite on the Syracuse track on Thursday, April 13.
Scoring medals for the Pioneer boys’ team were JR Rico, first, 3200, 10:59.45; third, 1600, 5:09,14; Mason Houghton, third, 3200, 11:18.63; Kalan Fritch, third, long jump, 20’4”; Brayden Earll, fifth, discus, 135’2”;
The Pioneer boys’ 4x400 team of Jordan Cooper, Mason VonFeldt, Cameron Bock and Dane Sjulin picked up sixth with a time of 4:06.53.
Scoring medals for the Pioneer girls’ team were Laney Denniston, fourth, 300 meter hurdles, 50.79; sixth, 100 meter hurdles, 19.41; Joslyn Crispin, fifth, 3200, 14:38.50; and Alexis Meyer, sixth, 3200, 14:52.99.
The Pioneer girls’ 4x400 relay of Laney Denniston, Jocelyn Davis, Grace Conner and Jayce Harrah ran fifth in 4:46.41.
