Rippin Hoo

Rippin Hoo A big game fishing teaser company. Custom made lures that bring flash, color and vibration. Leader Thimble for extended use.

Rippin Hoo big game teasers were developed in 1997 out of what was believed to be a necessity to attract big game during the dog days of summer. The idea was born out of three fisheries which all had commonalities that attracted gamefish, both large and small. These lures give off three of the triggers that attract big game fish: flash, color and erratic movement or vibration; all put together w

ith 400 # test terminal tackle that is both interchangeable and replaceable. Never again will your expensive teaser, dredge or spreader bar be put out of service because of damaged parts; simply remove or replace damaged blade and keep fishing. Rippin Hoo has contributed to billfish grand slams in the Gulf of Mexico and the Pacific coast from California to Panama, tagging and releasing blue, white, and striped marlin including both Atlantic and Pacific sailfish. The teasers also have an outstanding track record for attracting other tournament winners. Tuna (bluefin and yellowfin), wahoo and big dorado (mahi mahi, dolphin), to name the money fish, are just a few. Troll the teasers submerged with a 16oz trolling weight provides a, just under the surface,or on the surface tearing up water look. The flash, color and commotion can be seen from hundreds of yards away to the envy of both FISH and FISHERMEN! "TIGHT LINES"

I’m bringing them all back and more!
I won’t be blackmailed.
So we just cover all bases with a new domain I purchased years ago.
The name tells the story at the same time.
These flashing, dashing mirrored stainless steel blades have been sold and used with success in 29 countries prior to and through the pandemic. Norway was my last country before I got knocked down by cancer, then kidneys were killed off from the type of chemotherapy.
It all came down in a crashing end when everything failed. They brought me back three times before getting me hooked up to dialysis at the end of Spring.
Two friends from down the road came to my place to buy some teasers and made a deal for me to have one more trip on the Gulf of Mexico.
The coincidence of 8 years ago while going to my son’s wedding and staying with a new friend in Pensacola right before being diagnosed, was quite simply a miracle for both.
8 years ago I gave a Rippin Hoo and Hellraiser to my new friend Karl. He had a 20’ cc Cape Horn which coincidentally I personally built its interior back in the 90’s. I took him offshore for his first time. I brought several Poseidon Australia Lures with us given to me by its owner Chris Tsalamongos. Karl had three 1970’s Penn International bottom fishing reels and rods.
We made due. I ran us towards the Alabama line outside Orange Beach with just a topographical image in my head. No numbers, just what I thought would be there. Once we got to 350’ deep I turned South to 450’ then 750’. The ‘Steps’ is what I called it. I set the teasers out and our three lures. Trolling at 9 knots North to South and back, we got hit. Karl got his first nice mahi.
Reset and did it again. A second strike and hookup on the second reel. Boated Karls first big wahoo. Reset, started getting choppy but just minutes later the third reel went off! This wasn’t just a fish! I had Karl up front and I chased whatever we hooked up. I kept thinking sailfish. Gotta be. It wouldn’t jump and was still 100 yards off. Then it jumped and the holler from me was automatic, MARLIN!!!
Karl got his white marlin that day. Another first and a Grand Slam to boot. How many of us has had a first day like that?
8 years later these two new friends took me out and to make a long story short, mahi, small, big barracuda and another white marlin!

Just weeks later my lights went out. Fortunate it didn’t happen offshore or I Wouldn’t be writing this today.
So dialysis is part of my life unless I find a kidney donor. No list will take me.
But as far as my passion in life, that hasn’t changed at all.
So my youngest son got involved and we’re bringing everything back. Send in your old pictures, videos, teasers related please as we want to acknowledge those who have been there throughout.
Thanks for believing in my out of the box thinking since 1997.
I’m still thinking. No box in sight except the fish box!
Tease em up

I believe this is the worst thing I will be posting for a while.
Due to tariffs and not being able to get components and everything I spent and went through personally to make Rippin Hoo the best it can possibly be. Two years of doing reconstruction and buying new everything, adding engraving and wire replacing mono, to let them continue to run radical as ever, I’m left with the remaining stock on hand.
I’ve protected the name and patents and patent pending on certain parts that are the key to their performance.
I’m still not going to increase prices but I will give free shipping in the US and work with friends overseas so they get the same opportunity.

This is a gut punch for sure after close to 30 years of having my concepts being used with success in 29 countries which was no easy task.

Now is your opportunity but I’m not doing this through the website. You can pick what you would like from there and email me, including your return email to receive an invoice.

Hellraiser and Rippin Hoo’s have been a major part of my life and kept me alive during the worst of times. We survived through Covid, cancer and kidney failure but Never stopped building, selling and creating more ideas.

In short, I have what I have in stock and getting any more is questionable.
Allow me a week to get your order out, please.
I will be building each from its basics because I need to make sure I can fill orders as they come in.

I do thank all of you who have been with me since concepts turned into tackle in its true sense.

I’m not sure how to do this but I want to add or start a ‘Tips and Tricks’ section or page for both Rippin Hoo and Hellraiser Teasers.
If you know how or where this can be done, I would appreciate your feedback .

Tips:

They are NOT just for trolling to catch fish.
One of the first Tips given by Harry Glah ( RIP) was, when you hook up with a marlin, his target, do not bring your Rippin Hoo teaser in but rather, it’s still working while the hooked fish is running out of its way. This technique from his words, brought more double and triple hookups going on at the same time !
Then he brought the teasers in.
There are exceptions that are dependent on where the hooked fish goes.

This works on all pelagics as a good many species travel in groups.
