!!! 2018 v. 2021 - swipe to see the evolution ~

I wish I had even older pictures that could show my 2018 already represented tremendous evolution from my starting point, but back then I didn’t see the value of taking pictures/videos of my practice ~
•
I didn’t think I could deepen my backbend much beyond what I could achieve in 2018, but with specific training, dedicated practice, and expert coaching from , 2021 is looking fantastic and I am already daydreaming of what 2023 has in store for me!
•
Chase your goals, whatever they are, enjoy the road trip as much as the actual destination, and keep practicing because… that’s where it’s at!

Are you one of those people who think is something you are born with and that if you’re not born with it, your back “will NEVER do that”? Think again!
•
Sure, genetics matter to some extent. Also, the natural shape of your vertebrae may limit the depth of your curve in . But!!! You should know that (i) flexibility can be trained, because (ii) flexibility is all about strength rather than joint laxity. And... we all know strength can be trained, right?
•
It’s never too late to try something crazy... 😉

It’s official! This Sunday I graduated from 300HR Teacher Training! 🍾✨🎊|
~
Yes, I learned a lot but, perhaps more importantly, I un-learned even more. I was so full of certainties and preconceived notions about alignment, voice, the role of the teacher (among other things!), and these biases were standing in the way of realizing my true potential. |
~
From the amazingly knowledgeable and diverse faculty, to my fabulously intelligent and funny fellow trainees, without forgetting the 2020 events that shook us to our core (COVID-19, the deaths of Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, Desmond Hayes, Tony McDade, Rayshard Brooks, and too many more) this experience was so rich, dense and transformative. |
~
Thank you for cultivating both innovation and tradition, fostering learning and unlearning, and for taking me under your big yoga wing! Namaste. |

📌 is a way to introduce everyone to the 21, lovely bears who currently live at our sanctuary. 🌲
Join us every Monday and get to know them all better!
Today, meet 🐻Svetla.

She is 26 years old and was rescued in July 2007. Svetla was one part of the last trio of dancing bears, Misho, Mima and Svetla, rescued in 2007 from Bulgaria. The practice of dancing bears in Bulgaria officially and thankfully came to an end with their rescue.
Svetla is semi-blind but still walks very confidently around her enclosure. She participates in all enrichment activities and makes her own den for the long hibernation period.
Svetla also strikes quite a unique pose when relaxing and often spends some time maintaining it; she lays down on her back and then rests her back paws on a tree!
She also lives very peacefully with bears Marinka and Stefan.

Yoga isn’t always as accessible as we, regular practitioners, would like to believe. Some people must work 2, 3 jobs to make ends meet. Others can’t afford childcare. And others can’t drive and must rely on (sometimes unreliable) public transportation ~
•
If high-end condos and apartment buildings offer yoga and fitness to their residents on-site, why can’t residents of affordable housing units have access to that same benefit?
•
Through September and October, I will be offering a 4-session yoga series to tenants of and - in the comfort of their own homes, so they don’t have to worry about finding the time, finding the way, or finding a babysitter ~
•
Hopefully, this little pilot program is just the start of something BIG and BOLD to make yoga more !
