Unfortunately, there are way too many children in the foster care system. These children are amongst the most underserved and vulnerable people (in the U.S. AND around the WORLD). In the U.S. ALONE, 328,947 children pass through the foster care system every day. This happens for a variety of different reasons, but the fact is, it happens regardless of whether or not we like it. Many of these children never get to experience childhood as it should be... With a kinship or adoptive family that loves and cares for them. Many of these children age out of the system and experience homelessness by the age of 26.
To us here at Viking Diving, this is wholly unacceptable, and we want to show these children love that they may never experience otherwise. That's why during this month of May, National Foster Care Month, we will be putting our money where our mouth is! In addition to the programs we offer specifically for foster and adopted children (such as open water training and continuing education courses), we will be setting aside a portion of our sales from every dive trip, course, and gear rental, and directing it to help foster and adoptive children and the foster community as a whole.
