π Race Recap β Saturday, May 30th at Hamlin Speedway π
Double Hatch Racing loaded up and headed south to Pennsylvania for Tribute Night at Hamlin Speedway, where the All-Star Slingshots were battling for a huge $750 payday against a field of 23 cars.
The night kicked off with the Junior Slingshots, and Molly wasted no time showing speed right out of the gate. π¨
Molly laid down the fastest lap in hot laps and carried that momentum straight into Heat Race #1, where she picked up the win! π
That heat race victory earned Molly a strong P2 starting spot for the feature event, putting the 55 machine right in the mix for a shot at the podium. π₯π
But unfortunately, luck just wasnβt on her side. A small mistake caused the car to turn slightly, costing her a few positions. A caution came out a few laps later, and while battling to work her way back toward the front, she went over the inner berm. The car became flooded and wouldnβt restart. Instead of remaining in the infield, officials pushed her out, ending her night early and preventing her from rejoining the field.
A heartbreaking and frustrating end to what looked like a very promising night β but if anything, it only adds more fire and determination heading into next weekend. πͺπ
Over in the All-Stars, James battled adversity from the start after snapping a radius rod during warm-ups. The team fought through it, but in the heat race they just didnβt quite have enough gear, resulting in a P4 finish.
That would line James up 12th for the feature β and what a battle it turned into. As temperatures dropped and the track changed with the cool night air, James found his groove and was absolutely on a mission. π₯
After charging forward through multiple cautions, he went for a passing move and spun, sending him back to the rear of the field. Still, the fight wasnβt over. On a later restart, he got checked up hard and pushed toward the wall, but somehow managed to save it, regroup, and claw back a few positions to finish P14 against a stacked field.
It was a long night with plenty of ups and downs, but one thing was clear β both Molly and James showed some incredibly smart, defensive, and determined driving all night long. Nights like this build character, and this team will be ready to bounce back next week. ππͺ
