Whether the Artist needs to increase range, build breathing stamina, develop a particular style, or is experiencing vocal medical problems, Kim has an intuitive gift and the expertise to handle Artists with care, while never interfering or covering up their natural talent. Her vocal studio is on “Music Row,” the heart of Music City’s recording district and home to major record labels and publishing companies. She began her career as a performer, traveling across the United States with other Artists. Along the way Kim discovered that singers always came to her for help with their songs and vocal issues, and she realized her true calling was to be a vocal coach. Performing Artists in various Broadway shows in New York have sought her advice and expertise. Kim also produces vocals for projects in the recording studio. One of her many vocal projects is the Grammy Award-winning “Survivor” album by Destiny’s Child. Kim is an active voting member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences the organization that decides the Grammy Awards. Drawing on her extensive knowledge and expertise with singers, Kim formulated and trademarked a progressive method called “The Vocal Builder Technique”TM that meets and exceeds the standards of today’s competitive music industry. “The Vocal Builder Technique”TM is an approachable, practical and easy-to-use series on DVD/Cd designed for the singer. Her technique builds vocal strength, breathing stamina, increased vocal range, richness in tone, and smooth transitions from chest and head voice. Kim believes that too often, singers discover hindrances which can put a promising career on hold, or occasionally, even the most seasoned recording artist can experience physical limitations in the pursuit of their craft. A few areas of vocal problems are post-concert hoarseness, vocal fatigue, nodules on the vocal cords that render the voice helpless in singing, vocal hemorrhages, and lack of breathing stamina. In these instances, Kim carefully analyzes the voice in her coaching sessions and once the problem is identified begins applying “The Vocal Builder Technique”TM to correct vocal issues. Kim is a big proponent of hydration and recommends the singer drink at least 64 ounces of water daily. She feels dehydration is one of the main causes of vocal problems.
