Wow - where did the summer go !?!
For Cera it was a busy one for sure - she decided to continue to play with her SSA team for the summer. They could have fared better but I think between rising senioritis, injuries, and some players priorities being re-evaluated, they had a good summer.
State Cup for Georgia bragging rights: they made it to the final four by crushing the competition outscoring them like 14-2 in three games. But they hit that buzz saw and recent rival, UFA Milton in the championship game and lost 3-2. Milton is a tough team with great competitors and were just too much for them on that day
Regionals - Greenoro,NC: Though they lost the state championship, they received a wild card offer to attend Regionals. Again, they crushed their opponents from around the region in pool play but lost to a tough Louisiana team in the quarters.
Nationals - Denver, CO: They earned a spot in the NPL Nationals and travelled to Colorado in July, which would be Cera's final series with her team. They played well and won their bracket in pool play but again, were defeated in the quarter-finals of elimination play.
She also managed to squeeze in a week of her annual goalie camp at University of North Georgia, in Dahlonega. If she goes next summer - it might just be as an instructor......
As you can see it was a busy summer but one that offered Cera some final play with her long time teammates and coach and some good training and experience just before heading off to college.
Next Stop - Murray State University, Kentucky !!!!
