On this day 79 years ago Jackie Robinson stepped across the chalk line at Ebbets Field to make his Major League Debut. He would go on to not only change the game, but was a torchbearer in the civil rights movement.

Today there are only two Brooklyn Dodgers left who were teammates with Jackie - one is the great Sandy Koufax (90) and the other is Bob Aspromonte (87). I called Mr. Bob last night to talk about his memories and relationship with number 42. Within the first 10 minutes of their first encounter, Jackie gave him his glove. Here is that story. Enjoy.

Bottom 9th, 1 out, bases loaded, Tennessee winning 15-12. Tim Corbin and the call on Tommy Goodin to pinch hit and he delivers with a walk-off slam to win it 16-15!

Vandy swept the series, winning all three games by one run and with walk-offs.

A throwback to 2018 Opening Day in Atlanta when the Braves’ Nick Markakis stepped to the plate with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th and hit this bomb to walk-it off. Fortunately i captured the moment!

It was Simply A Fan’s first regular season game! Some in our group asked if I could guarantee that outcome on every adventure to which I said “For a non refundable up charge.”

Since Simply A Fan launched in 2018 we’ve taken fans to 9 Opening Days around the country! It’s been the first Opening Day for the majority of the 253 fans who have gone with us - fathers & sons, best friends, brothers, families, father & daughter, mother & son and even three generations.

Highlights include:
• 2018, Nick Markakis walk-off HR for our first regular season game
• 2019, the historic Findlay Street Parade in Cincinnati with an estimated 100,000 fans lining the streets
• 2019, the Budweiser Clydesdales entering Busch Stadium in St. Louis
• Meeting Dale Murphy at his restaurant on 3 🇺🇸 adventures in 2019, 2023, 2024
• Two more Braves walk-off hits in 2023 Orlando Arcia and 2024 Travis d’Arnaud
• 2025 in Los Angeles with Brooklyn for the Dodgers World Series flag raising ceremony and the next night for the ring ceremony

I may be enjoying the games from home this year, but we have plenty on the docket for this season that will be released soon.
