Athlete Highlight: Bill Selph 🎉
EP: When did you start training with Coach Todd and what drew you to EP?
BS: I first met Coach Todd when I was involved with the Tennessee Interscholastic Cycling League. I approached Todd about coaching a high school mountain biking team with me. I was intrigued with his classes and training. This was probably in 2017.
EP: Do you have any events or goals coming up this season you feel excited about?
BS: I don’t typically do any specific events. I train for the physical fitness aspect of cycling. I might do a Century ride or two each season but I mainly just train to stay in shape. Cycling is a wonderful low impact form of exercise.
EP: Do you remember your first class?
BS: I remember my first class like it was yesterday. There was so much information on the screen. It is a lot to absorb but after a couple of classes, it becomes second nature. You can make the classes as challenging as you want.
EP: What inspires you to train?
BS: When I exercise, I always feel better. Plus, I like to eat so it helps keep my weight off.
EP: How else has training with Todd at EP supported your fitness?
BS: Being around other folks riding and training for events helps inspire you to try harder. Todd’s classes can be quite challenging so it’s more fun to be around others. I’m a much stronger cyclist because of Todd’s classes.
EP: Have you realized any benefits that carry over into other areas of your life, in addition to cycling?
BS: I honestly believe that overall, good physical fitness improves your attitude with work, relationships, and everyday life. You’re better able to handle challenges when you are fit. I turned 60 last year. Hopefully, cycling will benefit me well into my senior years! I feel like I am 35.
Thank you so much Bill! We love having you in the EP fam!
