BC Virtual Stage Race Segment #4 - the last one!
4.92 miles - 652 ft of elevation gain

Located just south of Crooked Creek Recreational Area in Southern Brown County. You can access this trail via State Road 46 between Nashville & Bloomington. From State Rd 46, turn onto Crooked Creek Road. The trailhead will be about 4 miles south and on the left.

The first part of this trail is the final 1.5 miles or so of the Tecumseh Trail. This is a fun trail to run! There is parking at the trailhead as well!

Unfortunately, they are doing some logging at this time, so about 1/4-1/2 mile is a muddy logging road. At least it was 2 weeks ago when I ran it. If you did Jackson Co. 50/50 this year, it will give you flashbacks. IYKYK

You have until March 13th @ 8am to complete this segment! Segment #2 has officially closed.

BC Virtual Stage Race Segment #3 is in Yellowwood State Forest.
This segment is 5.3 miles with 504ft of elevation gain.

This is a fun one with lots of turns and hills! DISCLAIMER: Your feet WILL get wet! There are a couple of creek crossings.

Part of this loop is included in the Tecumseh Trail Challenge held here every October. This segment is a combination of Horse Trail Y and Yellowwood Lake Trail. You can park at the Yellowwood Park Office parking area, and the trail starts right across the main road.

You can run this loop in either direction, clockwise or counterclockwise. However, I suggest CCW for more fun! I posted pictures of the turns for this one!

You have until March 6th @ 8am to complete this segment!

BC Virtual Stage Race Segment #2 is open!

This segment is a throwback to Year 1.

Laura Hare Nature Preserve is a hidden gem in Brown County. This trail is 4.86 miles with 706ft of elevation gain.

Laura Hare is a looped course. A couple trails intersect the main trail so stick to the outside loop and you will be fine! The main intersections are marked with a map showing you where you are on the course.

There is decent parking at the trailhead. You can run this loop in either direction, clockwise or counterclockwise!

You have until Feb. 27th @ 8am to get this segment completed!

BC Virtual Stage Race Segment #1 is open!

We are going back to where it all began!

Trail 8 from West Lookout Tower in the Brown County State Park. This trail is 3.72 miles with 583ft of elevation gain.

Start and finish at the West Lookout Tower. There is plenty of parking at the trailhead. Since we don't want to miss out on going UP the stairs, the loop portion needs to be run/hiked in the counterclockwise (CCW) direction. You can thank me later! Pictures are from running in the CCW direction.

Fingers crossed for melting snow! Remember you have until Feb. 20th @ 8am to get this segment completed!

BC Virtual Stage Race Segment #4-Trail 11 with Trail 9 loop

📍Brown County State Park
7 miles
1321ft elevation gain

This trail is one of the best that BCSP has to offer! (IMO) ✅Distance. ✅Hills. ✅Creeks. ✅Woods. ✅Single-track. This is the final segment and we are going out with a bang (and maybe some DOMS)!

They are doing construction on the dam at Ogle Lake. It is still accessible but the Start/Finish for this segment will be at the far end of the dam, where the trail splits (see 3rd & 4th pic-there is a sign there as well). Take Trail #11 (straight ahead) up the hill. Follow Trail #11 until it intersects Trail #9. Here you can go clockwise or counterclockwise around Trail #9, which is about a 2-mile loop. Note- if you find yourself in the campground, you took a wrong turn.
Once you complete the loop, head back down to Ogle Lake on Trail #11!

The deadline for this segment is March 14th @ 8am.
Segment #2 is officially closed.

Happy trails!

BC Virtual Stage Race Segment #3 - Pate Hollow Trail
📍Hoosier National Forest - Paynetown
5.9 miles
998ft elevation gain

This trail is a lot of fun with several glimpses of Lake Monroe. The trail starts and finishes in the parking lot behind the Visitor's Center. It is very well marked, but
several trails cut through, so pay attention at intersections. You can run it in either direction (CW or CCW).

Directions from Nashville: Take State Road 46 west out of Nashville. As you are coming into Bloomington, turn left at the first stop light onto 446 South. After 6-7 miles, turn right onto Paynetown Road, then the first right off of that road will lead you to the parking lot and trailhead.

The deadline for this segment is March 7th @ 8am.

Have fun!

BC Virtual Stage Race Segement #2- Crooked Creek
5.6 miles & 840ft elevation gain

This is mainly used as a mountain bike trail but it's also great for running. It starts and finishes up on the dam. Start at either end of the dam, run around the lake (clockwise or counterclockwise), and finish on the opposite side of the dam. The dam is NOT included in the route. This route is easy to follow. All intersections are marked with signs. Follow the ones marked Crooked Creek. (see pics)

There is plenty of parking at the trailhead. Minimal to no cell service so plan ahead and download the map if you are unfamiliar with the area.

The deadline for this segment is Feb. 28th @ 8am.
