I couldnât care less if another adult chooses to drink. If youâre an adult, youâre making an informed decision, youâre not driving, and youâre not putting anyone else at risk, thatâs your choice. Iâll even go out with you.
What I do care about is how weâre teaching the next generation to think about alcohol.
I care about the way itâs marketed. I care that itâs treated like a normal part of growing up. I care about the lack of clear health warnings. I care that kids are exposed to alcohol long before theyâre old enough to understand what it actually is.
Adults can make their own decisions. Kids canât.
I believe a lot of young adults would make different choices if they grew up knowing the full picture instead of just the highlights from commercials, social media, movies, and drinking culture.
Drink. Donât drink. Thatâs your call.
What I will never understand is why so many people get offended by the idea that kids should know the truth before theyâre encouraged to see alcohol as just another normal part of life.
Adults are free to make their own choices. I just strongly believe the next generation deserves all the facts before they make theirs.
